Re: Lachlan Morton on the great divide

Canny move by LM, sets a blistering time, shows that it doesn't have to mean riding yourself into unconsciousness and has carried it out in a way that still keeps Mike's record on top for those that feel strongly about it. Very much looking forward to the video.

Re: Lachlan Morton on the great divide

Aside from how well you know the route or how much prep you do you can make any weekend ride more self-sufficient by carrying your own food. If I carry all my food and top up with diesel at my local Tesco I can travel from Suffolk and spend a long weekend in Wales all while contributing nothing to ...

Re: Taping frame

For short trips, I too now use electrical tape. Easy on and off, no mess, cheap and as the frame is black, it's not unsightly. With the proprietary tapes, I find dirt gets under the edges and looks manky and it's always there. Yep, my best results have always been with electrical tape, it contours ...

On the day I signed up I had trouble making payment. I later got an email saying there was a glitch and to try again as it was sorted.

My mate just messaged to say he'd been charged twice for entry. I just had a look and I've been charged four times!

Tarp tents I kind of discounted as it seemed to me that they needed a trekking pole which I wouldn't have. What do you guys use to prop them up?

I'll chip in that I have the predecessor to the Deschutes as my solo shelter, also highly recommended.
Something like the Alpkit Tarpstar might also be worth a look.

Three of us were out in Friday's mega-deluge under my Aliexpress MLD Trailstar clone. It cost bugger all, fits into a 2l dry bag, only needs half a dozen pegs and a couple of poles. We stayed dry, could see the sunrise through the gap and can sit up under it so definitely not claustrophobic! 2023080...
