Re: Wildlife

I found these two little guy or girls lying at the side of the road, looking dead. I had a closer look and gently touched one, just to check, and to my relief saw a little flicker of life. Same with the other one. No obvious signs of injuries, so I scooped them up and carried them home - obviously ...

I feel your pain Stu! I had big issues with an event entry a few years ago and it caused no end of stress at the time.

I've entered anyway, so hopefully it is getting better.
300km for me.

Good luck riding up there!!
That said, the route I've come down seems for gradual, but no ROW up there.
Indeed no legal RoW but it is doable and even quite enjoyable
I've only been up as a hike a bike from the small Res up high, then riding down towards the A44

Re: From Sea to Mountain - Locations?

Why not River to Mountain? If you want to do the longest unbroken climb in the UK, put your back wheel in the Feshie burn and ride to the summit of Mullach clach a' Blair. 660m climbing. Brownie points: zero dabs on the climb up. Mega brownie points: burn-summit-burn in <60 mins Snowdon or Cader Id...

Aberystwyth then ride up Pymlimon and back down again. Or Barmouth and pedal up Cadair. :-bd Good luck riding up there!! That said, the route I've come down seems for gradual, but no ROW up there. Cader Idris would be a good one. The track on the west from Llanfihangel is rideable, joins the...

Re: Trans Cambrian Way - FKT number 2

Thanks everyone.
It is doable in a day especially summer, or a good 2 day ride.
When the bothys open back up there are a few along the route. One to have half distance each day, or another than gives one big day and one shorter.

Alpkit Koala 7 litre seat pack
Alpkit Fuel pod 25

Re: Pumps

I got a Lezyne mini thing that has a flexi hose that screws onto the presta valve. Utter poor show, it has a 100% record of removing the valve core when unscrewing the hose. Might work with the fixed valve core or schraeder valves but not with Schwalbe type valves. The Topeak pumps I have are great...

Note to self... don't do a video with any fire :o
Not that I ever do anyway as I am too much of a weight weenie to take anything to light a fire!

For what it's worth, I think Rob's reply is good and sincere. He could quite easily have just ignored all comments and left it as it was.

I've got a SON delux 12, on a road bike and it's absolutely brilliant. Supplied and built up by JRA wheels.

For lights, check out kLite. They do several versions and I use the road which is brilliant.

Charging then via a gadget I can't remember the name of to a Anker battery.

Carbon posts (especially thicker ones) can be very harsh. Ti is much more comfy.
That's pretty general and I'd say not that true.
Some of the most comfortable seatpoats that exist are carbon.

If you want a super comfy post, look at the Ergon/Canyon VCLS post.

Nothing to offer (yet, although my son is getting bigger), but we've had an Orbea MX20 disc for the last 18 months that has been excellent. That is good to hear, I've recently bought one for my daughter. There were a few in stock at Tredz, which is where I got mine from. I was looking to get a bike...

Bloody hell, that's so fast What are your thoughts on gravel bike vs MTB? You said you were faster on the downs with the MTB and had the leverage of wider bars. How about on the climbs and the flats? What about the smoother sections? The bike I built up was a mix of both and I think the perfect mix...

I find Wahoo Elemnt Bolt absolutely fine, although sometimes would like the larger screen of the Roam. They are best when you have a route to follow, as the mapping screen is sparse otherwise but when following a route I find it surerior to Garmin. While you can't get OS maps on them, assuming you a...

Re: Route advice: Black mountain/Black mountains

From the links you have shared, most looks good. I would raise a point of caution about the section from Dan yr Ogof over to Llandeusant. It is really vague, with no track on the ground on a large part. Also, the track up to Llyn y Fan is steep and loose. The view at the top is nice, but I would onl...

Trans Cambrian Way - FKT number 2

Someone went and pinched my FKT that I set last year. He smashed my time, 20 minutes faster, so I had some work to do to regain it. I changed the bike and set up and used previous experience from last year to make a few less wrong turns. I stuck a GoPro on the front and have a bit of a video up http...
