You don't perhaps bank with the one recently fined £108 million for money laundering short comings? I personally don't think cash will ever go completely or not as long as politicians and very wealthy people have need of "brown envelopes"

Rode "Summit to Sea" in the Julian Alps in Slovenia last year, Kranjska Gora to Piran over the Vrisic pass. Did a side trip up the Karavanke Mountains to Tromeja /Ofen a 1,508 m high peak, located at the triple border between Slovenia, Italy and Austria.

Re: XXL Bivi Bags without a taper
Not the lightest option but look at a British or Dutch (and probably many other) military bivi bag. They are generously sized to take into account a squaddie sleeping in his boots cuddling a weapon. I have a new and unused British Goretex Bivvy Bag. I cannot get a long and wide Thermarest and a syn...

Happy to help with anything I can and as previously said glue myself to most things if needed. Beware the 40 year local presence and the behind the scenes networking that will have gone on and will be escalated now with local politicians and authorities. These things are never just about the legal a...

Re: chain wax anyone ?
Also a fan of Squirt, apply after every clean or a light application before every ride. Chain stays clean and there is very little gunk buildup and the chains last at least as as well as they did with the usual mineral oils. Haven't ruined a sock or a pair of trousers with grease in ages

Dunno about that Reg, some of the farmers up y way are pretty burly lads, I suspect I would come out worse in a square go.... Anyway, as mentioned on the BAM thread, I've just read "The book of the bivvy" by Ronald Turnbull - one of those short works that Cicerone put out. Fairly light he...

Pretty much what I do Reg, though don't have tape on the rear line, just make sure it's sticking out of the stuff sack when packing it away. Come to think of it, the yellow tape helps when packing rather than unpacking, so I know which corner goes in last. What helps with unpacking is the a...

Re: Todays ride
A dusting of snow this morning meant that the snowflakes in charge of my place of work (a college) closed it due to the 'adverse weather'. So that meant an early ride out this morning in the 30mm drifts before it melts this afternoon! Tbh its not that often we get snow on the beach so was nice to g...

Cracking products and lovely people trying to run a business with a war going on. I have 2 of their bags and they are excellent. Not got the pogies as I don't do enough freezing riding.

Re: What 2.2" - 2.3" Winter MTB Tyre...?
found them to be very draggy. You cannot get more grip without more drag so it really depends what you would rather have. Mine replaced a minion front and rear and cannot say i have noticed much difference tbh. Agreed, my summer tyres are WTB Rangers and the difference in drag between that and the ...

Re: What 2.2" - 2.3" Winter MTB Tyre...?
The shorty is the Maxxis mud tyre and its certainly very grippy in the mud - mines a 26 er though- and superior to the Minion* in wet and skiddy. I use a high roller on the back I dont think an xr2 is a winter tyre personally.[ ok if its a + tyre but that is the size rather than the tread. ] * if i...
