Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.
Not cheery exactly, but a big sense of relief. After many years of struggling, then a couple of months of preparing myself, have this week sat down with the Mr and told him that I don't want to live with him any more. All rather difficult and sad, but he's taken it as well as I could have hoped, and...

Housemartins are back, and have started settling back into last year's nest under the roof.
Ever since my friend said they look a bit like tiny orca whales, I can't not see that any more...

Re: Wildlife
Walking round favourite little woodland today, saw first bluebells out (there), and really happy to see that the ravens have rebuilt and are using the nest which got blown down last year.

Re: Hammock in the garden
Ok, am full of cold, so the maths lessons above are beyond me... I've got a freestanding frame thing, and a cheap as chips nylon hammock with carabiners. Tips? It certainly does if you forget not to park your bottom further in the middle or down towards the foot end than you'd think. Quite amusing t...

Re: Hammock in the garden
The idea of lazing in the hammock, at home, appeals to me. However, my garden has no trees, and there are no strong and suitably spaced fenceposts, either, so I was thinking that one of those free standing hammock frames might be worth a try. Has anybody done this, and have any advice? Length betwe...

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.
Sitting on a National Express on our way to the Eurostar for a Netherlands river cruise through the tulip fields, with my parents. Third time lucky I hope, with COVID and my dad being poorly getting in the way before. Apparently they have bikes on board that we can use to explore, not the ship obvio...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2024
That looks like a proper good trip V :-bd I really enjoy exploring the smoke by bike & do similar myself if i’m down there visiting family & friends, with the odd rave thrown-in. If you go again try swapping banks at St Paul’s, then heading through the city, Spitalfields & East London. ...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2024
Just read V's report and my head is in a complete spin! A right sensory and incident overload there V, top work. Hiring 8 bikes in a row is a clever idea. Reckon the adjudicators have got to let that BaM through simply for the lunacy value. Chalk it up! I'm going out right now into our High Street ...

I don't suppose your interest has anything to do with a hole in the ground does it ?
Have wondered about that shelter up there!
And about the crossing over the top - count me in??

Last minute March BAM in the early hours of Easter Sunday... Here's a question for you who are guardians and interpreters of BAM rules: On the "a bike must be involved" question, are there any rules about the timescale and distances involved to make it one single "BAM" event?? Re...

Last weekend was my one year anniversary of giving audax riding a go, with a return to Barry's Bristol Butt Buster aka a total cake fest!!! (with that being one of the main attractions...) It really really is one I'd highly recommend, I realise now what a brilliant introduction that was for me to it...

This was my cheery Friday - sunshine, shorts, no jacket, up, WOW what views, down when my stomach started rumbling for some brekkie, and just in time before winter returned once more  https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53624858054_f96ca97ec7_b.jpg IMG_20240329_105851 by Verena Zimmer , on Fli...

Re: Today's Run
Not today, but a couple of weekends back... March has been busy! Went for a weekend away to Wiltshire with Mr Z, stayed in Marlborough for a couple of nights, and I took not my bike but just my trainers and went out both mornings for a mooch along the ridgeway. This one was on the Saturday morning, ...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2024
What a month folks - loving the adventure reports and photos. Sorry some of you had a rough one, and 100?! Blimey! With little energy in the tank I ticked March off the list, with a local bivvy at an old railway station not far from home. Temp was forecast to be dry and only dip as low as 5 degrees...

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.
I was considering insuring my bike and perhaps having a brief pootle but given that we woke to snow yesterday, I decided against bothering. Instead I will busy myself with the seemingly never ending list of tasks which require attention while I watch the droopy daffs and lambs head-butt each other....
