Plastic or Steel?
Was wondering what is your preferred bottle material when bikepacking? I’ve been using the Elite Fly MTB bottles that have the lids and also Klean Kanteen steel bottles. So been using both but I’m more on the side of using steel. I’m not sure why, I just find drinking from a steel bottle, a more ple...

Re: 'Doping scandal of the Highland Trail 550'...?
I'm not telling anyone what to do, hence: YMMV  I just thought as the thread might be disappearing down a (steady SR) STW-type path that it might be worth considering why less fuss was made at the time. Still, the internet is a wonderful place for disappearing into rabbit holes all round and ...

Re: KAPZ - Bearbones design ?
Maybe instead of getting a load made.
Maybe send them a design and if any on the forum want one, they buy them themselves individually, direct from Hedz?
Would that work?

Re: 'Doping scandal of the Highland Trail 550'...?
No one will own up to having the Tramadol If they did not have a prescription for it and owned up their could be legal issues of having possession of the drug. I know in hospital it has to be kept locked behind two doors in the controlled drugs cupboard, with a single key holder and signed by two pe...

KAPZ - Bearbones design ?
Just seen KAPZ a top cap design company.
Some lovely designs and looks like you can design your own and they will make them.
Would Bearbones be interested?

Re: Anyone tried putoline chain wax ?
I’ve tried paraffin wax with PTFE additive. Bought the slow cooker etc etc. Tried in on my fixed gear, gravel bike and BikePacking bike. The chain is much cleaner, very little dirt get attracted to the chain. It feels smoother. Apparently there is less resistance but what I use my bikes for that doe...

RedShift ShockStop stem, thoughts?
I thought, too expensive, bit of a gimmick, won’t work, too good to be true. Similar thoughts I had before I bought a Paramo top and then had my opinion completely turned around with that. Well the RedShift stem was another expensive big gamble. What’s the difference in just taking a bit more air ou...

Re: Flat pedal pins advise
They're just grub screws aren't they? Find out what thread they are, then get some of whatever length you want. SO yeah, hardware store, bearing supplier, ebay, accu (https://www.accu.co.uk/en/14-cup-point-set-screws ), that sort of place should have some. Ok, and how do I find out the thread type?

Flat pedal pins advise
You would think this is easy. Might be just me. I’ve got a pair of crankbrothers double shot 3 pedals. Clip one side flat the other. I’m finding the pins a bit too short. Looking for the longer 10mm ones but they appear not easy to get hold off. Also not sure if I have to go with the crankbrothers 5...

Re: Tent advice - Lunar Solo
I have a Luna solo tent, love it. But just to let you know, consider getting from backpackinglight.se it’s an online cottage store in Sweden. I’ve bought a few items from them and had good reliable service. Bought a cumulus quilt from him. The site is in euros but it work out the Luna solo is around...

Re: Buffalo shirts on bikes
I have a buffalo and for bikepacking it’s just too hot, but maybe sitting around camp it’s would be ok,if not a bit bulky. I use a paramo valez light smock which you can vent when you warm up if needed. I supplement this with a paramo insulated vest/gilet on the bike. Makes a nice and adaptable layi...

Re: Warned of personal liability at a cafe ???
Is going for a coffee at a cafe worth the hassle of being told I’m going to be responsible legally for another persons accident?
I understood the sad compensation culture but what I experienced today was a step too far

Re: Warned of personal liability at a cafe ???
From what I was told by the cafe. An elderly person walked past a bike, they caught the bike, they fell to the floor and broke a limb. Wanna be more f*ckin' careful then, don't thee* Did the elderly person pay for the damage to the bike? It all smacks of no one taking personal responsibility...

Re: Warned of personal liability at a cafe ???
Unless the bike fell on the older person causing them to fall I don't see how it was the bike owners fault. If the person walked into the bike then fell the fault was his not the bike owner, doesn't matter where the bike was parked. Just my opinion. From what I was told by the cafe. An elderly pers...

Re: Warned of personal liability at a cafe ???
Leave a Trip Advisor review and don't go back. Even though I’ve been going since I was a child, I was made to feel very unwelcome. Yes, I probably won’t go again though. It was just strange, you go to order a coffee and the first thing I was being told was about my personal injury liability respons...

Warned of personal liability at a cafe ???
Went to a cafe today that is located within a very popular area for outdoor activities. Such as walkers, cyclists, horse riders, runners etc.... Have been going for years to this cafe and see many cyclists. They have an area to park your bike but it is just a big log with cut outs for tyres. No wher...

Re: Charge through power banks
I’ve tried many pass through charges but I find that some don’t allow at all, some don’t like the stop start of dynamo. I’ve finally come down to one that has good reviews for working with solar panels and being able to manage the stop start nature of power input. It also allows pass through. It’s a...
