Re: Dynamo hub for 29+

I am a bit late to chime in, but just wanted to share my positive experience with the SP hubs. I have almost 11,000km on my PD-8 hub and it's still going strong. I recently put a PD-8X on my trail bike with a kLite and loving that combo with the Sinewave Revolution and the Kerry's burly handlebar sw...

Re: A South Wales Loop

Length: 238 miles Duration: 2 days. You're not serious are you? Either way, good ride. *doffs cap* Glad the route tips were helpful too Haha, definitely NOT two days! It took me 2 days just to get from Newport to Brecon on those squirrely trails! I think the Everytrail website must be calcu...

A South Wales Loop

Hi All, Just returned from riding around the Beacons -- my first bikepacking trip and first visit to Brecon. What a gorgeous area! Here's my route with some geotagged photos. Big thanks to Ian Barrington for pointing me to the EWE route and some of his local loops on Strava! http://www.everytrail.co...

Short notice Brecon Beacons mini-trip

Hello all, I am new here. I am planning a short trip around Brecon Beacons over this weekend (probably from Thursday 22nd to Wednesday 28th). If anyone is about or has advice on events or road/trail closures around the area, I would love to hear from you. I've not ridden in Brecon Beacons before so ...

MYOG seat pack (WIP)

I started a seat pack inspired by the Wildcat Tiger. After much frustration, I have a new respect for Beth@Wildcat and all those who make nice seat packs (Revelate, PR, Alpkit). It's a challenge that seriously underestimated! Saying that, I think my next one could be a lot better considering what I ...

MYOG 1P basic tarp tent

I'm new on this forum and I've been inspired by the MYOG posts. I tried to knock up a tarp tent and bivvy sack the other day. I used Jamie Short's lytw8t catenary tarp tent design as a guide, but made a few adjustments. Feedback and suggestions welcome. I am planning to test it out this weekend. Her...

Also, has anyone tried anything from Northwave's Vibram sole range?

Re: Shoes - A quandary.

Nice to have all these suggestions. I have been using the same pair of Shimano M087 for almost 2 years including 9,000km touring Latin America. They are fantastic for dry, warm weather riding, but not so great for hike a bike. Has anyone tried the Shimano MT71 ? I have quite wide feet and find the S...

+1 for Mountain Morph. It's a bit bulky, but super quick for larger volume tyres.

Re: "Free" OS Style Mapping for Garmin (STW)

I haven't tried this yet, but I read in the comments that he hasn't included contour lines. I have been using the maps from OpenMTBMap (based on OSM) with Garmin EDGE 800 and I find the contour lines and additional data really helpful for MTBing.
