Re: Trousers for wearing post cycling on bikepacking

It'd be a pair of Ron Hill tracksters for me, especially on a multi day trip, not a fan of minging about camp or sleeping in my chamois

Super Natural LS merino top

Mens Super Natural Gravier merino long sleeve top, size large I bought two of these from sportspursuit, this one has only been worn once for an hour so it's pretty much brand new Not sure what to say about it other than it's got long sleeves, it's made from merino and it's got three pockets in the b...

Re: Kit list for first bikepacking trip

chain finger What's a chain finger please RIP? The experts will have a proper name for it  . In Reg's case it's a bit of bent wire to hold both ends of a split chain while I'm fiddling with it with all my other fingers... You could pay a fiver for one here  : https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/...

Re: Which freeze dry meals would you recommend?

Favourites are Bla Band, LYO or Mountain Trails (mince beef dinner, om nom nom) I once had a Mountain House chilli mac that had gone rancid despite being well in date, turned me inside out for 3 days in the middle of Knoydart which wasn't ideal, haven't touched them for about 15 years since then. No...

Re: Noob tech question again

I stripped down my headset this morning and found the grindy culprit to be the lower bearing, it was a rusty coloured mess down there. I've cleaned everything up barring popping the seals and regressing, and instead ordered a set of replacement bearings from a company just down the road. I'm up in A...

Re: Sleeping Bag -40c. 😁

I watched a YouTube vid about these bags a few weeks ago, Gareth & Zoe I think, they weren't very kind in the review despite their preference for budget kit.

It packed down to the size of the moon from memory

I've been running Shwalbe G-one Ultrabites on my gravel bike for the last 12 months, great tyres, would definitely recommend

Edit: only 38mm though, sorry missed that bit

Re: Sleeping Bag -40c. 😁

With Kickstarter stuff, if the project doesn't take off or go into production. What actually happens with the money people invested. Do the owners of the project keep whats left after the overheads and we get nowt? Just wondering... I got caught out once Shaf, it was supposed to be the world's smal...

Re: S2S Aeros pillow repair

A hot iron might do it, I know folk have done this with sleep mats, even shortening them

(but don't blame me if it ruins the iron or pillow)

Re: Noob tech question again

Time for another noob question, sorry folks, this time on headsets I've noticed mine is starting to feel a bit grainy, if I don't ride the bike for a while it'll almost lock up too, I'm guessing the bearings are on the way out. I'll ride it for a bit longer though but I just wanted to get a steer (s...

Re: Wtd: Down filled/very warm mat:

My old Exped downmat is a big old lump Shaf, not something I'd want to use on a bike trip I don't think, not sure if the more recent ones have changed though.

I'd probably look for an Xtherm, there's some decent deals about now they've released their new NXT range

Re: Budget Baselayers

The Higher State stuff from sportsshoes is okay for the money, I've got several of their poly tops for hiking in warmer weather, the rest of the time I use merino layers. But which merino base layers are affordable these days. My Embers Merino has finally given up (ripped down the arm from wear/tea...

The retro thing in the bike industry seems to be quite unique, there's obviously a good market for it.

It's not for me, I'd rather have a Focus RS than a Cortina GXL

Re: This doesn't look right to me

thanks guys, job done already Any recommended torque for nipping up such a bolt.into a carbon fork? Light as possible just to tuck it in there. Like about 5nm or less I've had to go way beyond that Shaf, I'm probably nearer 15-20nm, I've cleaned everything and lathered up with carbon paste but it s...
