Re: Carbon bottle cage

A carbon cage to hold a steel bottle made smile

How does it work, is it magnetic or are there straps to be added?

Re: Thermos mugs

Another vote for the Ultimate although it has a screw top rather than a pop top, does me and the mrs fine for a brew stop on day hikes or rides.

I had an old Eurohike(?) thermos for years which had the pop top but it started to leak quite badly so I replaced it with the Ultimate

Re: Odd places to sleep

We went over to look at the walking dragline at Corby before it got cut up, would of been '84 or '85. I was around fourteen at the time. You could have parked a car in the bucket, I was also fascinated by the diameter of the power cable coming out of the back of it. Noooo, not another dragline fan ...

Re: Saddle for all day comfort

Maybe I'm being over cynical but a lot of these saddles seem to be a product of the styling dept rather than a backside expert. And why is it when you finally find one that fits when you go to buy a spare its been discontinued. I guess thats one area where Brookes wins out. I'm hoping Phil Burt kno...

Re: Saddle for all day comfort

I picked up a Terra Argo x3 last week for my gravel bike, wanted to try something with a channel, I hope it feels better on a ride than just sitting on the bike at home. The ridge around the outside seems to sit just where I don't want it on the 150mm variant, quite firm too https://advntr.cc/wp-con...

Leatt shoes -any thoughts?

I was just looking at the Leatt 6.0 shoe, it's looks nice and meshy so hopefully will be fairly quick drying and suit the kind of riding I do. I can't see much in the way of reviews so wondered if anyone here uses them? My NW Spiders will be getting retired in spring so I might take a punt on these ...

Are Showa gloves popular amongst cyclists? I've been meaning to try some for hiking for years but my ten year old TuffBag mitts refuse to die first

2.8s mate, to be fair they've been on since the bike was built so they were nicely welded on

Banged some jizz in last night and the leaks have stopped, good to go on some chunky Morsas now

Re: Can't shift a Ranger

Rangers off, rims cleaned and taped, valves in, new tyre on.

Turns out my Rumpus rims aren't as tubeless ready as I'd hoped, big leak on the rim join

I'm having one of those weeks :-L

Alpkit Katabatic too, might be a bit lardy on the scales compared to others but it's toasty warm

Re: Sub 350 gm synthetic primaloft hoodie?

I prefer smocks myself but OMM do a Rotor jacket now, 340g in a medium

The Berghaus Vapourlight Hypertherm is very good too, I don't think it's made anymore but it's seriously warm for it's weight and worth a quick search.

Re: Can't shift a Ranger

I couldn't let it beat me last night, I found some work gloves with a rubbery palm in the man cave and they worked a treat to get the second bead off, along with a couple of Pedros and other cheapy levers, tyre came off a doddle once I had the second bead off and pushed into the centre well. Shortli...

Re: Can't shift a Ranger

After one of my nails started to bleed underneath I've given up for the day, pizza and a couple of IPA's will ease the pain hopefully. Had those Rangers on since I bought the bike in March '20, they're well worn but okay for local jaunts. I've been meaning to go tubeless for ages but never got round...

Can't shift a Ranger

Think my valve went today, tried for forty minutes to get the fecking bead off the rim before sacking it and walking 5 miles back to the road.

Any tips for getting a stubborn Ranger off a Rumpus rim, besides a Stanley knife? I don't think my thumbs can hack it anymore.
