Re: TLS and “spares” for multi day trip

gear cables, shouldn't just *break*. However if you're riding off road your outers/cables take a hammering and your mech's get gunged up/sticky more quickly. Which equals more pressure/stress on cables trying to perform the shifting so therefore the likelihood of gear cables breaking increases*. Al...

Re: TLS and “spares” for multi day trip

Yeah good point I also carry some really thin dyneema cord now. Used to carry spare cord/straps in case a bag strap snapped.

Super glue, gaffa tape is also useful for when you get a hole in your mat.

Re: TLS and “spares” for multi day trip

I always focus on spares to keep me going until I can get to a bike shop.

e.g. chain breaker and quick link
Spare pads
Tube
Tyre boot
Puncture repair kit
Spare chain ring bolt

Probably should get one of those fibre fix spokes and a tubeless repair kit.

All doesn't add up to much weight/pack size.

Re: What summer quilt for the fairly tall?

For information the response from Cumulus was that they can extend the quilts by 13cm or 22cm. The extra charge (currently) was 25 eur + 3 eur/10g for extra down.

Re: BB questions.

Looking at the dealer manual* if you have a frame with a 92mm bb shell then you shouldn't need a bb or spindle spacer.

If you have a frame with a 89.5mm bb shell then you put a 2.5mm bb spacer on the drive side but still no spindle spacer.

I use Army surplus trigger finger mitts. I glued bits of the finger material from an old set of gloves to the trigger finger to give more grip on the brake lever.

Re: Schmidt Edelux anyone?

I haven't had one myself but used to sell them and commuted with a colleague who had one.

Bright, good beam pattern (enough light for fast road riding), well made, limited plastic and 5 year warranty.

However pricey compared to B&M lights.

What summer quilt for the fairly tall?

This may have been covered but having used the search and read the quilt threads I'm not sure it has. What (summer) quilts are available for those of us that are over 6 foot 3? So far all that are on my radar are the large Sea to summit Ember 1 or an Elightenment Revelation both of which are pretty ...

Clearly this is to do with the exchange rate (Brexit) but that's almost a £100 increase on 2 years ago!

Think mine will be staying de-activated/un-subscribed for a while. Anyone want to buy a Spot Gen 3?

Top tip: follow someone else across Carnau and then they fall in the bogs alerting you of where they are.

Burty have you connected it to a PC and looked at the files? The rest of it may be in a folder labelled Archive under GPX.

My Oregon decided to save two sections of my track to this archive folder and then a final third section when I hit save at the end.

Re: BB200 - The Aftermath

Lessons I learnt: 1. Ride your bike around the car park before you leave. Getting 1/2 a mile up the road and then realising my saddle was wonky AND my multitool had disintegrated in my bag wasn't the best start. 2. Learn how your kit works. Joystick died at 2am because it wasn't on the setting I wan...
