Re: The post man's been ...

Not the postman, but Asda. The festival/camping gear is in-store. Picked up a few random bits because they were there and were very cheap. Basic but good value and serviceable bits: - £1 plastic, folding 500ml water bottle (ya know, with the carabiner on the side). - £4 pack of 2ltr, 4ltr and 8ltr d...

another MYOG cheapo Anything Cage

Came across a Bell expandable bottle cage in Asda for only £2.30. Figured it was worth a punt at that price to see if it could be modded into something like a Salsa Anything Cage. The metal frame is very rigid, the plastic is fairly flexible, with most of the work being done by the straps. Has anyon...

Re: 2013 Solstice 150 Mile Lightweight Raid, June 22/23.

Would stay the second night near Holy Island and then cycle home. Hi jamiep, looks as though I'm going to be getting the train too. What way are you cycling back to Edinburgh, on the road or through the Lammermuir Hills? I may be up for joining you if your interested. I've absolutely no route plann...

Is this still on? Interested, just got to work out if a train from Edinburgh to the start is possible. Would stay the second night near Holy Island and then cycle home.
PS I'm not a mental. Been lurking on here since the start, over from STW, but only recently joined once I've started buying gear

As per topic title, what to folks suggest? I have 100ft of paracord and some Line Loks. I wanted to set my new tarp at home rather than faff once out there. Ta

Re: The post man's been ...

[ Is the Storm the pertex one? I saw them cheap somewhere but then read a couple of bad reviews. Admittedly they were from about 2006 and the product is probably totally different now. Be interested to see how you find it. Seem nice and light, and pretty cheap. If its good as well, that'll hit the ...

Re: The post man's been ...

I've an old, inexpensive commuter that I UTTERLY RAGGED for 3 1/2 years. It was really ready for the bin as the components well worn and would cost more than the bike to replace, but the frame was still OK. I was going to bin it as I'd just got a new bike for commuting but then decided to get the fr...

If you don't want to go by coach, here was an offer in the Scottish Sun last week for any single train journey in Scotland for £9:50 until end April thru Scotrail. I'll dig out the code if you need it.

Re: WTD tarp and bivi

I'd also possibly consider something other than the DD tarp. They're PU nylon not Sil, so are pretty heavy/bulky in relation to other (only slightly more expensive) options. PU doesn't dry as quickly either. What am I looking for here? SIltarp? They seem a lot rather than slightly more expensive. I...

Re: Bike bag on a train?

Eastcoast trains (and maybe other companies) have an oversize luggage policy http://www.eastcoast.co.uk/on-board-our-trains/baggage-and-pets/luggage/ . Greater than 90 x 70 x 30 cm "may be charged" although they do not indicate how much. With my snowboard bag last year I got pulled up by a...
