Re: WRT 2019 Story Telling
Another WRT blessed with sunny weather although this year the average temperature must have been 15°C cooler than last year! Raggedstone and myself had each come up with different routes but which shared a common section so we set out from BB Towers after bacon butties, weigh-ins and gifts from spon...

Re: Packed bike weighIn Thread
My all-up bike weight at this year's WRT was just 1 LB heavier than my riding mate's was.
He very kindly pointed out though that the total weight of him and his loaded bike together was equal to my weight - that's my weight, just me without the bike and kit!!

I'd like to add my thanks too. No idea why, it's like thanking your torturer for the pleasure of being tortured really! But I do appreciate the amount of time and effort both physically and mentally that Dee and Stu put into the WRT every year so that we can enjoy our chosen form of masochism. Thank...

Scary! But yes, exactly what I was thinking. Certainly appears to work well on that bike/bag combo.ScotRoutes wrote: ↑Sun Apr 28, 2019 12:15 pm
This is exactly what I've done with the Revelate bag on my Amazon.

Re: Frame bag faffing
I'd use the Wildcat (for Salsa) but move it forwards and strap a spare tube between it and the seat tube. Better access for 2 bottles and the spare tube will visually fill the 'gap' (and uses that bit of space).

My pencilled route for the weekend appears to be betwixt the two LHC routes so there's every good chance we may see you Reg sometime Sat night / Sun morning as you spin in ever increasing circles looking for wayward groups of lonely bike hobos  Oh, and it's cheery Friday because the bluebells ...

Re: First Time for Everything
It's surprising (or maybe not!) how many bike components have an advised maximum weight limit and I guess with regard to saddles then the weight of kit hanging off it should be considered along with the rider weight (talking generally, not Cambium specific). There will always be a margin but equally...

Re: Hello! First time bikepacker - probably stupid questions ahead
Your lad may lose his desire to do it again if he spends the early hours shivering rather than sleeping! The temperature in my neck of the woods (not too far from you) dropped enough this morning for a fairly heavy dew. If you're bivvying in a dip in the land then temperatures could still drop well ...

Hopefully the effects of the fires on Ilkley won't have a bearing on the event; route should be far enough north to avoid any drifting smoke but it's not an area I'm particularly familiar with.

They usually introduce themselves with the first few words of a famous Beach Boys hit Reg....Question now is, what does a "BP groupie" look like, so I can recognise one when they turn up unannounced in the middle of the night

A night in the Forest of Dean
A tale of a couple of days riding in the Forest of Dean and Lower Wye Valley; unfortunately no photos from me but I am hoping that some will be added to the thread later. This started in conversation with RIP some time previously. Reg occasional passes by the Forest on his way to see family and had ...

Well, ride completed :-bd No-one suffered through lack of food or drink (approximately 50/50 riding/stopped excluding bivvy!!) No-one had their photo taken by café owners for social meeja purposes (well, maybe all of us) No-one got arrested (despite threats by a random female street vigilante) No-on...

Ref. the carry your sleeping bag thing - as far as I can see the package includes hire of bike and tentage/food/entertainment at a given location but does not include portage of riders cloths/bedding/etc.. So, you carry your own bedding and clothing. Nothing unusual about that; I can remember having...

Amen to that. Even on a WRT weekend too sometimes! There aren't many places in the UK where can you spend all day riding a bike and literally meet no-one, even on a bank holiday weekend! Well here you can

If you take the lane from Trefeg' and ride through Llawr-y-glyn and once past the Chapel on your right - take the 1st right rather than the 2nd, the climb is more gradual. However, I'm now wondering whether people are already doing that ... in which case carry on as you were  Then you can alw...
