Re: Wtd: similar to a tarptent notch but less than the price of a kidney!?
Shaf, check out the offerings from Durston. Another US based cottage tent producer around which there's quite a buzz about the off centre design of their tents which provides loads of head and leg room. The X-Mid 1 is "just" US$240, though you'd be stuck with import duties blah blah blah e...

Re: Photos you have taken in the last month of which you like.
Ok, so not the last month, but since March this year I've taken a pic of my back yard on the first of every month just for the heck of it and because I have way too much free time on my hands. I forgot one month (cant remember which) but I got most of them and I just love the way the seasons meld an...

Goodness, that is just brilliant. Slinging a tarp over a zillion year old stone hut thingy (I'm sure that is the proper name) and eating a proper meal on a slab of slate. Well done, you.

Hey Reg ... if you promise to be gentle, you reckon I might join you? I know I hold the record for the shortest ever WRT distance, but don't hold that against me. That was mostly Steve's fault. And Stu's fault. Totally not my fault. I wasn't navigating. But just thinking, I'm feeling fitter and fitt...

Re: Cable discs: advise me
Yeah that’s it, isn’t it? A road lever has such a long throw compared with a mtb lever and coupled the long lever arm in the calibre, it’s always going be pants. Dull. Vague. Urgh. I’m gonna try a bb7 calliper and a bigger disc and experiment with stuff. We’ll see where we get. Thanks for the input ...

Stu can I puuuleeeease get the gpx file again this year? I doubt I’ll ever ride a BB200 but I do enjoy pouring over the route and imaging the pain.

Cable discs: advise me
I’ve just bought a Genny CDF and it’s a really lovely bike, with the exception of the TRP Sprye brakes. They are awful. No power, no modulation, squeaky shouty …. I could forgive the lack of power but they just feel dead. Admittedly, hauling up my chunky arse is a challenge for any brake set, but I’...

Even though I think I am finally succumbing to the cold that young Miss Z has been generously carrying around the house for what feels like two weeks at least, cheery Friday, as I have been feeling really rather happy all week  And I am looking forward to hopefully passing on the love for cy...

Re: Aggression from others spoil your ride?
Name and shame the pub Adventurer.... Yep. I go up there once a year or so. Be good to know where I can park my bike and deliberately annoy a Karen. Meanwhile, down here in The Chalfonts, cycling is the new golf. Honestly, two wheels are welcome anywhere. I locked my bike to the leg of a homeless p...

Blimey, that was some read... Glad to see you are all in fine form. Hopefully a catch up under a bush sometime soon, you know, like in the next 6 months or so. Crikey. Nigel, man. You can come to the 2022 Chilterns Leaf Blower in March 2023 if you promise to be fat and slow. Hang on a mite …. We ne...

:-bd Looks a good trip, hammock fall sounds a bit painful though... think I'll stick tot he ground.... Yep. Got a big bump on the back of my noggin and a branch shaped bruise over my back. I spent an hour or so faffing about in the dark, making a brew and moaning loudly but no one came to give me a...

Re: Chilterns Spring (sic) Thing
The wettest Chilly Springy Thingy since records began. And the most painful thanks to a hammock fail which dumped me onto the ground with a mega thud. I've done a rotor cuff, I just know it.

Re: OT: door mats
That simply won’t do in the Chalfonts. Oddly, I’ve just been counting back on the folk who have rung my bell in the past year. Discounting Mei The Post and other deliveries, it’s been the Baptists and the coppers. So a feck off door mat seems quite appropriate. And ffs why is the alarm going off on ...

OT: door mats
I’ve just had my driveway relaid and the numbsters chucked my door mat in the skip. Sillies.
Googling worlds best door mat leaves me dazed and confused.
Any thoughts? I’d really like a coir mat but it’ll get wet? Does that matter?

Ok I'll have that thanks. Never been a fan of big bum bags as my bum is too big to bag (sorry children) but I like the look of that and it might help in my endless quest to never ever where a backpack while riding ever again. Ever. PM coming your way, Madam/Sir

WTD: old style Wildcat Ocelot framebag
A few years ago I loaned my old XL Ocelot bag to my Very Active Girlfriend. Now we're not a thing, I want it back as it used to sit on top of my OO Fatty's twin top tubes and was the perfect place for my hammock stuff. And I can't make the Fatty work with the bags I have. And I want to use my Fatty ...

If you want value for money, I’d avoid exposure. I’ve tried an Axxis and Diablo and both were massively underwhelming for the price (I got the Diablo in a sale for £130 which I still thought was poor VFM) I'll agree on the Diablo. It throws a really nice light for the size/weight of it, but has not...

Reg, mate, the face on the security bloke as he removed the Promite from my bag. He was obviously a fellow Promiter and knew how much this meant to me, especially when I explained the background. I was so disappointed I forgot to collect my boots from the x-ray and wandered off in my socks. It's sil...
