Re: 2016 Highland Trail (group start)

Ian is a fell runner - ex-climber - this section will suit him.

Also, remember he is only chirping per hour as we've had some tracking issues with his SPOT.

Re: 2016 Highland Trail (group start)

Looks like Liam stopped for about half an hour in Dornie, and is now about to start the Glen Lichd climb. There is maybe ~16 hours riding time left to the finish for Liam. If he doesn't stop I don't think anyone can catch him. If Javi/one of the other 3 in the chase group pulls an all nighter and L...

Re: 2016 Highland Trail (group start)

ITT rider yellow - group start blue/pink/purple.

Pretty certain if you turned up to an XC race 2hrs late and started, but rode the course faster than the leader you'd not get 1st place after.

Now...turn up late and pass the leader....sure, now you're leading.

My 2c.

Re: 2016 Highland Trail (group start)

Ian's SPOT has been on the fritz since the start - hence I've been asking him to chirp it every hour. Don't worry. I have a spot question, but the answer might be in your statement about Ian's. Once you start it tracking it sends the location at pre-set intervals? Can you manually send your locatio...

Re: Tour Divide 2016

Batteries are heavy. I'd say go with 1 spare set of AAA's for SPOT and 1 spare set of AA's for Etrex. Resupply on route as required. Same with your brake pads unless they're really tricky to source. Even in the mire of 2014, I needed to change brake pads just the once in Steamboat @ Orange Peel. If...

So is this the decisive move among the front group? I reckon all of them are looking at riding through to the finish, makes sense for Phil, Javier, Lee and Stu since they've had a good night's rest and are stocking up at Kinlochewe. Not sure about Liam's rest/restocking strategy - push to FA have a...

Liam has done an AlanG - slept well, kept quiet, then started motoring the HAB sections. Stunning, proper deep diesel mode coming I suspect.
