Re: Never legal to wildcamp on Dartmoor?

In terms of protest I think a mass 'not bivvy night' would be quite fun.

Loads of us turn up, walk past his front door and then wander about at night looking like we're about to camp but never quite doing it.

Perhaps stop for the odd picnic, but by moonlight.

Re: How to.... Take your bike on a plane

Thanks all. Good to know about the tent pegs and gas cans. The latter fairly obvious but tent pegs, less so. I do like hotel on arrival and departure idea. A bit of comfort, clean clothes and a shower. Andy, I too have a bike bag, a rather tired fat bike bag, but never used by me. I'll carry on drea...

Is Eigiau Cottage the same as Dulyn, listed on the bothy association website?

Popping off to Google silk balaclava.

I often struggle bivvying with draughts and have thought a light weight balaclava would be just the thing.

Do I need to post here all my BAMs to get a badge? I hope not as I have just sent Stuart my 3.50!! But 2022 was the first year I have managed all 12. It did involve a few local bivvys for local riders and December was a real close call thanks to covid. Managed to start 2023 in good style with a camp...

Help, I'm trying to spend money on the bb shop.

So I have a login that I can clearly get to the forum on. fatbikerbill

I am logging in using my login name instead of email.

That account has an associated email address.

Problem #1 I can not log into the forum with the associated email address.

Problem #2 I can not log into the shop with either.

Another shout for exposure.

I went all out for the 6pack. Not for the lumens which are mad, but I use it also as a powerbank.

So run it on lower power and charge phone from the light.

That worked a treat up in Scotland earlier this year.

Hi all, I am looking for a new 3+ sleeping bag system. I am 185cm, 80kg , 6'1" in old money, weight , you'll have to work that out as I do not understand stone. First question: Am I too too for the Criterion Quantum bags rated as max height 6'1" - on paper no, but you know what I mean ! Th...

Re: Seat Pack advice please

https://aeroe.com/ I have no idea if they are any good, but one of the pics shows bags side loaded on the rear.

But personally I'd look at two fork mounted bags, see PX, then a frame bag of sorts, stem cells, and a bar bag. I then use a bum bag such as the cheapy decathlon one if I am overflowing.

Helinox or oex chairs

So I was wondering...

You can get the helinox chair for about £125 & 509g

Or you can get the oex version for £40 and 1250 g

Has anyone tried making or using bespoke carbon poles with the oex?

And if so what did it cost and what was the final weight?

They will probably used as slippers at home as well , especially if the heating get's disabled. The ones that come up in my feeds are the rab hut sliippers https://rab.equipment/uk/down-hut-slipper & the much cheaper Nordisk https://www.tiso.com/tiso-nord-1124161/nordisk-mos-down-shoe-red-tiso-n...

What bike were you on?

I suspect it's a ride where whichever bike you take, half the ride will be great and half will be wishing you were on the other.

The split being roughly east ==gravel, west==mtb.

I'm curious why you say touch screen is essential. I ask as I have an 830, touch screen. It's great as long as it does not rain and you don't want to change screens when it is raining. If it is raining you have to have the screen locked on the screen of your choice. Apparently it does still rain, we...

Bizarrely, to actually answer your question, it is actually illegal to walk a bike on a footpath.

But, sod that, I'm with you.
