Stu, any chance a WRT no show like me can get one of the t-shirts? Bloody love that.

I have rubbish knees. I use oval to keep me riding. I swear by them.
Allen how do you think these help dodgy knees? Lately, ever pedal stroke feels kinda grindy and every step upstairs is a new and exquisite experience in pain.

Re: Favourite quotes

And I have just realised that the quote in my sig is WRONG ... It's a part of the quote from Lawrence Oates as he sacrificed himself in the Scott expedition to the South Pole. The full quote is of course: "I'm just going outside and may be some time." I must sort it out.

One of my favourites. If memory serves he was asked if he would like water with his scotch. And I'm pretty sure it was "I don't drink water. Fish f**k in it."

Re: Carrying fat inner tubes

I ran my Fatty for a whole winter with a regular 26x2.4 tube which was all I had at the time when I stuck it in there. It must have been stretched very thin inside the 4in tyre, but it worked. So that's what I've carried ever since as a spare in case my tubeless set up fails.

Re: Apidura frame bag bladder - quick review

I bought a Moosetreks framebag off Amazon last year, which has an internal horizontal divider and the bottom sections fits an Apidura bladder as if it was designed for it. Mine is the large and it has a bit of room to spare which I fill with other squishy things. They're not expensive, not waterproo...

Stu, if it's any consolation, every time I drag out my track pump I think about the 2019 WRT where I asked if I could borrow your track pump and you gave me The Look before helping me out. It was like this: https://live.staticflickr.com/4878/44965700715_b1c0632f10_n.jpg I've asked my mother in Queen...

Re: Do you ever ...

Mrs McCrindle was rather hot and so was Mr McCrindle. I think they balanced themselves out in terms of the Year 7 girl/boy - fancy your teacher/teacher's spouse ratio ..... that is so totally a thing. I wasn't so bothered with Mrs McCrindle though, as I was with Lindy Lawson. She was more my age and...

Re: Do you ever ...

Whenever I dry off after a bath or shower I think of my Grade 7 teacher Mr McCrindle who took the school assembly health sessions and would always insist that you must "carefully dry between your toes" to avoid getting tinea. So I always carefully dry between my toes. Must work. I've never...

I went out after dark last night to get the work week out of my head. I was just doing my irregular 1hr-10mile route and about halfway round a bloody great barn owl decided to fly along beside my for nearly 50m. I am not quick. It was about 3 seconds which felt like forever. Simply lovely.

Re: Shimano brakes

Shimano brakes are great when they're working but I gave up on them a few years back because of this very issue. For no reason, grabbing a handful resulted in the lever coming back to the grip and some poo coming out of the back end. I'm very glad some people find them reliable but for me there's a ...

Bikepacking event in Spain

Another organised bikepacking "adventure", this one being five days in Spain for £250. It's run by a friend-of-a-friend, Austin Vince, who has been leading off-road motorcycle tours in the region for years and is, apparently, an all round good bloke. It's called The Bounce: B ikepacking O ...

Seems they renamed it the Riverside touring bike, which has been sold out forever. The new paint job is not as nice as the original IMO. https://www.decathlon.co.uk/p/touring-bike-riverside-touring-920/_/R-p-332473?mc=8643288&c=GREEN_KHAKI https://contents.mediadecathlon.com/p2013313/k$c73bcf121...

Did you mean "sitability" Yep sitability, as in would the tarp be so low its function as a seat might be limited. But of course, it wouldn't anymore than a square tarp. I usually hang my DD Hammocks 3x3 tarp diagonally and pitch one corner up with a long stick to give me a big space for f...
