Re: The minimum you would take for 1 night out?

I find the title of this thread quite off-putting. It reminds me to much of 80’s box office hit ‘Pretty Woman’….

Re: OT: Rich People in Space

It’s a shameful waste of money and resources. Quite frankly I think space tourism should be banned before it starts. It’s bad enough that people feel entitled to fly wherever and whenever they like, now the 1% want to piss about in low earth orbit. The whole thing is f’ing awful X_X

Re: Giving up booze

Perhaps you will get balance but you might not- at least alcohol is not 100% addictive like nicotine is. I think you’re mistaking chemical dependency for addiction. Anything can be addictive. Addiction is a state of being, not a physical thing. Anyone addicted to nicotine is past the physical,chemi...

Re: Giving up booze

Can I ask the folk who have given up because they were drinking too much 'why not treat beer like a normal daily drink like coffee or tea or water. Try to drink for the taste and not for the affects. You don't have to get hammered every time you have some beer. Some people can’t, it’s as simple as ...

Re: Giving up booze

I’m probably coming at this from a different angle than you. I gave up drinking because my drinking had become destructive. I was down to the level of necking 1/2 bottles of corner shop vodka in one swig and my life was crumbling around me. If your drinking is at all problematic - only you and those...

Re: Surly 'Corner Bar' - what do we think???

Ha.. I googled the phrase, was kinda interested. I mean, rather interested :) A Reddit entomology thread came up. I hope I’m not falling into a well baited pedant trap here but….. Entomology is the scientific study of insects. Etymology is the study of the history and origin of words. Sorry, I coul...

Oh, AND it pulled on one's tum like a Victorian corset - if I wanted to enjoy the pleasures of wearing a Victorian corset I'd wear a Victorian corset. And indeed have done of course. You could use that one as a (flatt...

Re: Soooooo far OT - non / low alcohol beers

The best non-alcoholic beers are tea and water. Since getting sober 7 years ago that’s pretty much all the liquid I consume with the exception of hot chocolate on bikepacking trips. If you drink because you ‘like the taste’ and are concerned about how much you are drinking just drink the stuff you l...

FWIW my most comfy saddles are/have been. Brooks B17 - upright touring bike Brooks Swift - MTB Selle Italia Flite 1990 - Fargo Selle Italia SLR - proper road bike. I recently switched to a Brooks C17 on my upright bikepacking MTB and find the comfort way less than that of either of the two Brooks le...

Re: WTD: WOHO bag stabilizer

I'm keen to try one of these, primarily to carry water on my fatbike in the winter and thus avoid taking a backpack. As far as I can see, they're just not available (other than the Brooks version). Maybe someone has one and no longer uses it? I have one I don’t use that I could get in the post next...

This.
I’m using Middleburn cranks that have seen almost daily use for more than 20years. I only recently needed a bearing change on the Royce BB I got with them.

I’ve a set of those on my Fargo. 50cm with the fancy grips as well. Very happy with them.

I’ve always fancied one of these.

I have a lot of Rockgeist bags and rate them highly.
With how I run my GPS and lights this type of bag wouldn’t suit me but I find them intriguing nonetheless.

Keep the Ramin - which is a whole and rideable bike (at least it was when you came to Dartmoor) and sell the Santa Cruz frame. As it’s brand new and unused and in short supply you will almost certainly be able to get all of your money back.

I do see the irony in debating purchasing ethics on the internet. How many data centres spewing out carbon did your message traverse? Which carrier did you use? What are their values and ethics? Where were the electronics sourced from etc etc etc. Really you should be making your feelings known on ...
