Re: Alpkit Elan
I've used mine once. Spent half the night entirely zipped in. No condensation issue. Loved the net pockets by the head for torch, keys, phone etc. Looking forward to using it again soon.

1" wide gaffer tape. Rim is about 19mm. Tape was trimmed in situ using a craft knife run into bottom corners of rim.

Re: How many attempts before you reach for the glitter?
It's coming out the rim rather than the tyre atm.
Annoying thing is that I've got it to work before on this tyre/wheel.
Short of sealing every join in the rim I think i may need to admit defeat on this one!
Bet I get a puncture now...

How many attempts before you reach for the glitter?
I have decided the non-tubeless g-ones and my non-tubless generic Shimano rims could be persuaded to go tubeless with enough gaffer tape and sealant. So that's what I've been doing since 9am. Front went up and appears to be staying up, but the back.... Changed the valve cores, the valve outers, redo...

Re: What are you listening to now?
You ever heard the album Jon Hopkins did with King Creosote. Bloody vaguely exciting.
Anyways, i realised I've been listening to Feeder's latest (Tallulah) almost non-stop for 9 months I reckon. Damn catchy.
And also Dweezil Zappa.

Re: Bivvy a month 2020.
4/12 July Visited the same spot near me in Hampshire again. It's so quiet and tucked out of the way, it's beginning to feel like a second home. I'll probably start getting a little more adventurous when the public go back to shopping and pubs, and the nights get a bits darker and colder. Less chance...

Re: Shoe dryers?
Found a Husqvarna one for about £17.50 posted. Might give it a go. At least I know who to sue when my garage burns down. I've got a timer so I'll use that too.

Shoe dryers?
Anyone have a recommendation for a shoe drying machine that doesn't cost the earth but won't explode and burn down my house.

Re: New sleeping mat required
I'll need one for my July BAM so I've decided I can't afford an insulated one at the mo and have given my money to Mountain Warehouse. They've got an outlet near me so I can avoid postage costs and if/when it fails I can take it back! https://www.mountainwarehouse.com/compact-inflating-mat-p...

New sleeping mat required
My Alpkit Lumo appears to be leaking from several spots and my attempts to fix it have failed. My lovely old Thermarest is too big and heavy to get on the bike. I thought I'd cracked it when I found a Synmat Lite 5 on a website for £45 but having waited a fortnight, the website tell me they've been ...

WTD 27.5+ rear wheel with 10spd hub
Just broken mine in a fairly terminal manner.
Rim width 35mm or more required! Shimano/SRAM 10spd freehub body.
Anyone? Thanks.

Spent June BAM on the downs at the end of a line of burial mounds. Lovely night nestled amongst the beech woodland.

I bought a pair of Merrell Vapor Glove 4 3D last year, they were brilliant to wear. Not so brilliant was the cost and the fact they only lasted two months before I went through the sole. Been meaning to splash on some Vivobarefoot ones, but they're £120! Try these! https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07RD...

Sometimes i use a ridgline to hang crap from (headtorch, spork, mug, leatherman etc.) But only if I'm staying multiple nights.

Re: Shoes for the wider foot
I’d steer clear of five tens if you have wide feet, But ... I've been padding around my house for 4 months in slippers or barefoot and, as a tester thingy, just put my regular work shoes on. They're very nice Rockports and 4 months ago putting them on was a little slice of bliss ..... can't get the...

I bought an old MOD wool blanket with the idea that it would make a good hammock liner, but it ain't light so I decided to learn how to use my wife's sewing machine and make a poncho. https://i.imgur.com/CtTongX.jpg It's still stupidly heavy, so won't come with me on any cycling bivvies, but I can s...

Re: Bivvy a month 2020.
Thought I'd give the BAM a go last autumn but only made Oct and Nov before my BAM buddy got shouted at by the tenant of a field we'd camped in (with permission). This kind of took the wind out of our sails. And then of course the rain started.... So fast forward to April. I was feeling slightly norm...

Salsa Firestarter Chromoly Forks (SOLD)
I've been keeping hold of these because they're so darn nice, but my current furloughedness now means I need the cash! They were bought for a project that I rode once for 100 miles over a couple of days and then decided I had another bike better suited for the job. So they went back in their box for...
