Re: (Vegetarian) Quality Dehydrated meals: what options might I have missed?
Huel do a hot and savoury version now with three flavours. I've not tried it but it works out at £2.35 per meal and is nutritionally complete. https://uk.huel.com/products/huel-hot-savoury The only downside is that you have to spend £50. I've heard it's better than the shakes and a really simple 'ju...

Re: New member saying hello, and a question about camping
Thanks Wotsits, I'm the other way, towards Southport, Parbold way, pointers would be great. Even an idea of where to avoid would be handy. I'm near Switch island and once we are allowed out without any restrictions several of us will be heading to a bivi up near the Prince William/Ashurst Beacon on...

Re: New member saying hello, and a question about camping
Agreed, all really helpful, not done it yet but as was rightly pointed out, we are meant to be staying home, so I have a bit longer to psyche myself up.
Good luck @TC2wheels and @rapideye with your first night out.
Thanks everyone

Re: Garmin Edge 520 plus? advice sought
I have a 520Plus and for the money it’s hard to beat, used it for the 2019 gbduro event and it didn’t miss a beat for the 2000km route. Just saved a file off at the end of each day. Also used it for last years dales divide and did the event without saving it. The 520 series can also be charged off ...

Re: Garmin Edge 520 plus? advice sought
If you want to focus on navigation then the Edge Explore is a better bet, shopping around will get you one for not much more. I bought one for £125 mid last year. It's got a bigger screeen, works wirelessly to transfer routes from a smart phone via Komoot, Wikiloc and Strava and has a decent batter...

Re: Garmin Edge 520 plus? advice sought
unlike a phone or a computer they don't have a separate operating system and software, do you don't end up in the position where you can't install the software update as your hardware isn't supported... rant about phones over  This is exactly what I meant! The 520+ comes with Garmin's maps of...

Garmin Edge 520 plus? advice sought
I'm looking at getting the Garmin Edge 520 plus for navigation on and off road, and my question is... is there anything better for the price? (currently £159) Also do Garmins become obsolete quickly? or assuming it's not broken will it still operate for a few years. I've never had one before. I need...

This really is an awful and debilitating kind of pain, I hope things continue to improve for her. I've had a lot of back sciatic nerve pain over the last 18months and at times was too immobile to leave the bedroom. Things that helped... A massive boost was having my sister celebrate the tiniest of a...

Re: What you done t' your bike today
Messed around with the front mech for a while, gear changing much smoother now. The mech is on a clamp that has a bit of innertube between it and the seat tube, turns out it had slipped round a little, causing a lot of chain rub and very noisy gear changing. All in all a ten minute job stretched ove...

Currently on the lookout for something good, so will watch this thread with interest. Just finished Emily Chappell's Where There's a Will. Really good writing that doesn't always come with memoir/autobiographical material. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Also just finished on audible Jon Ronson - Them, encou...

front mech/limit screws question
So, i was just trying to re set my front mech (Shimano deore xt)for smoother shifting when i noticed that both limit screws are missing. question 1 : are all limit screws the same? I have an old mech (not sure what make/model) and the screws seem to fit the newer one for a couple of turns but then i...

Re: New member saying hello, and a question about camping
When I had chosen my spot for my first local camp and before I went out and camped there, I rode there late one night and just sat there for an hour or so with a coffee in the dark to see if I could see anyone about or if there were any houses I hadn't noticed. It was amazing how much noise there w...
