Headset question
Not so much a rant alert as a resigned sigh alert. I am having a bad day everything I have tried to do today has turned to worms so thought I would tackle this problem as a diversion. What could go wrong? Why oh why oh why are headsets so complicated? If ever an item needed an ISO spec its headsets....

Take it to a sail-maker.
They should be able to repair it with similar material.

Re: Knoydart Misadventure
It's open to the public, no need to book. Bunks, running water and flushing loo. There is an honesty box with a £3 charge. Or I think £1 to camp out front and use of the loo. Sounds as though its worth the effort just to see that stay there. Personally traveling through unrideable areas is what its...

Re: South West Bivvy?
Just to avoid confusion.
I am doing Devon Dirt on 17 April.
The Braunton (350?) will be sometime in the future possibly May/June as contingency if I have to drop out of planned ride.
Aiming for four days so looking at ITT not group ride - unless I can keep up with you.

Re: Knoydart Misadventure
vorlich( ) Fascinating write up. I have been considering this route but in reverse as the end of an east west route starting in Aberdeen. Did you consider the route via Gleann Meadail Glen Dessarry Loch Arkaig which I think is the 'classic rough bounds route' although could be wrong? Is the h...

Devon Dirt on 17 April.
'Most' people heading for Dartmoor.
http://www.devondirt.co.uk/
PS Am thinking about Braunton 150 but starting in Plymouth.
It adds 100 miles with Plymouth Braunton so start finish in Plymouth 350 miles total.
But it is only a thought at present.

Re: New bike
Depends on your budget and views on mech/hydraulic.
I chose mech bb7 but the clearance on the back brake means you would have to take the assembly off to alter the cable clamp.
Hydraulic will not have that problem.
Still prefer the bb7 though.

Re: Ferry to Spain
If you want to avoid the motorways and you have time there is a book called Travelers France which has a route from north to south through France using the old A roads and which are now the back roads. It will be longer it will be more interesting and toll free. Real towns and villages with real foo...

Re: Charging Garmins on the move
This may seem a bit OTT but I wanted to keep my primary lighting and charging circuits separate. My Edelux has its own stand light circuit built in so I dont need an external backup. With the exception of my hrm and joystick all other items such as eterex.SPOT, mshine light, head torch and town runn...

Re: Todays ride
Decided to miss out the accumulated 3hrs driving that going up onto Dartmoor entails and do the boring Starcross route from my house. Added two new loops one from the swingbridge in Exeter up the river to behind St Davids station and back then usual route down to Starcross. Was not feeling any effec...

Sorry to resurrect this thread but I ran across this a DooGee X5 DG and wondered if it might be a low cost alternative/backup for etrex?
It appears to function in charge mode but cant see if it runs off usb which what I want to use.
Anyone using one?

Ti frame care
Ti seems surprisingly soft and prone to water marks if I use water to clean the frame.
STW seems to think WD40 is the answer sprayed on a cloth for cleaning.
I would also like to polish out some scratches.
Can anyone recommend things for cleaning and polishing out scratches?

Anyone happen to be within reach of some calipers and some Jones Loops? Could you check the OD of the front tube in the center where the Jones logo is please?
Tried to improvise using a small adjustable wrench but the jaws only open to 20mm and I would guess its 21 or 22mm.
