Re: strava. yay or nay?

I'm a fan. It's a really good way of logging your data and (as I've probably said a load of times) currently the best route creator by far. I'm not massively interested in the timed segment aspect of it but it's an interesting way of seeing how fit you are/were at any particular time. It's horses fo...

Re: Pedal dilemma

I'm not a fan of flats for long distances. I've got them on the full suss though and (like a lot of other people I think) I wear Adidas Terrex for them, which have an excellent sole for HaB and steep pushes. Probably not stiff enough for long days riding for me though. Best SPD shoe I've found for d...

Re: Inspiration needed - 2 day route

The first half of the Second City Divide might be worth a look Steve. Looks like Glasgow to Penrith will be about 230 miles. Straight up the M6 to Penrith and leave the car, train to Glasgow is 1hr 45m, ride back down over a couple of days. The route's been put up here by someone called "rufus7...

A reasonably lean 4: 2012 Charge Cooker , nice steel frame that doesn't get ridden much these days. Just set it up single speed to use as a canal path commuter, yet to actually commute on it though  2015 Surly Ogre , set up with touring bars, mudguards and 2.35" Schwalbe Big Apples. Used ...

Re: gypsies.com - the demise & alternatives

Strava's far and away the best route creator imho Bill. The sheer immense quantity of data they have means their heatmap sh!ts all over every other one out there. It's such a powerful tool for assessing whether a marked trail's actually rideable and for finding rideable trails that don't show up on ...

Also interested Mike.

Everyone I've come across who's involved with The Racing Collective or rides their events have been absolutely sound. Brenin Beener off here rode their WalesDuro event a couple of weeks ago. It looked great. :-bd

Steel cages are good as you can bend the cage in to make it tighter to suit your bottle. King Cages have always worked fine for me - you can order them from Keep Pedalling.
