Re: Favourite 'Events'

Moors 100 was probably my favourite. The combination of the route, the format and the overall vibe was tremendous. Sadly missed if it never happens again although I have huge sympathy for Si - he had so much bad luck and mither with it. The BB200 is really special. A proper challenge of physical and...

I've got a pair of VO Crazy bars in the shed if you want to borrow them for a try Bob. I haven't used them for a couple of years.

Right now: the ringing in my ears. Last night: Lisa Lashes at Escape festival in Swansea, also Effy, and lots of others, but those were my favourites. Effy's great. Some proper acid tunes 😎 https://open.spotify.com/track/2ttWiWGpvX2S1EA5UfBCRa?si=LOs-mqseSSaZSXD8FRaj6w&utm_source=copy-link

A few things hopefully
  • I've tried to do the Haute Route (Chamonix to Zermatt) twice and failed both times. Hoping for third time lucky some time in Sept.
  • Calder Divide in Sept too if the dates work
  • BB300
  • Holy Land Challenge in Nov

Re: Things that have recently annoyed me

Agree with all that ^ on grey water usage - I was loosely involved with looking at implementation on some schemes in London, including some eco housing and London Sustainable Industries Park both of which were really pushing for high BREEAM scores. We couldn't really get much benefit outside of usin...

I'm sure you know it already but I've always been OK with the car parked in the impromtu car park/layby by the crossroads at the western end of the Old Coach Rd where it hits the tarmac.

That's a great route, wish I could join you.

Re: Things that have recently annoyed me

2 years is far too low a sentence as things currently stand. Setting sentencing to parity with driving is the right thing to do isn't it? Only if you think that being daft on a vehicle with 150kgs gvw and a cruising speed of 10-20mph is as reckless as beinh daft piloting a vehicle at least 10x as h...

Re: Route help, peaks two nighter from Manchester Piccadilly

Two very good shouts from Shaf re: setting off from Stalybridge and doing something based on the Peaks 200. I'd get the train up to Staly (and have a setting-off pint in the pub on the station platform then set off on the outer loop anti-clockwise. There's some reasonably tough climbing in there but...

Re: Epilepsy, riding bikes and bike packing.

Hi Loki A former Mrs Reverse had an epilepsy diagnosis in her twenties. It took a year or two for the docs to find the perfect medication and dosage (during which time her seizures were reduced to milder and more occasional night-time episodes) but once the meds were sorted she was fine. She's had h...

"Cyclists are having a whale of a time on Liverpool Road because they can do more than 20mph on their bikes and we can't do more than 20mph in a car" Just re-read this bit. Where does she get the idea that cyclists "can" do more than 20mph. Presumably she means to say "allo...

Re: My BB200 Black Badge (training) Thread.

Can I ask a question? The thing that causes the most faffage for me is fiddling about with my garmin screen, trying to see the route, when the path isn't obvious. How do you deal with the oft mentioned tussocky bog sections? Do you have the screen zoomed out a bit and just head in roughly the right...

Re: Spacer between headtube and bar bag?

This is my version, having it mounted above and below the headtube allows much thinner gauge aluminium sheet to be used and provides a mounting surface for my Kemo switch/rectifier gizmo. It's given 3 years trouble free service. A piece of velcro stuck on the front allows a temporary fix whilst str...

Cheers for the replies all. I've ordered one of the Restrap ones and one of the Thorn ones, will have a compare and send one back.
