Re: Brittany, no not Ms Spears

Yes I live in Brittany Check out the gr routes Gr37 is my nearest Some are footpaths only They are way marked Well suited to gravel/xc bikes The coast looks appealing but is mainly on foot only so could meet with opposition from ramblers. Lots of grande promenade routes too. These are usually mainly...

Hi
Agree with everything up to now.
Don't leave your sleeping bag at home.
You may not need a tarp or tent.
You do need a bag.
Don't breathe into your sleeping bag.
Eat a banana or something if you wake up cold during the night.
Take a hat.

Doesn't that q/r need to be pointing aft to avoid the potential for snagging on undergrowth?

Re: 29er plus rims for bike packing

Hi
I have Stan's Hugo with chronicles 3.0
This combo is great for rocky or rutted dry conditions.
I also run Stan's Arch with Schwalbe Nobby Nics 2.6
I like the rounded profile this creates. A good all conditions tyre.
Dont go too wide unless you are riding in properly bumpy terrain.

Re: Hello from cornwall

Hi Yes I too am from Cornwall. Although I am currently living in Brittany. I can recommend the Dorset gravel dash, dirty river, hell of the north Cotswolds. Quite fancy the grinduro as well. Recently rode my own route from carbis bay to Plymouth via Bodmin moor, quite a bit of road but small wiggly ...

Just out of interest, Has anyone gone back to square taper bottom brackets? My external hollowtech bearings have seized again. Grr. I have somewhere a deore square taper chainset that I am seriously thinking about replacing the xt hollow tech with. My MTB doesn't get used that much. The bearings sho...

Re: St Ives area

The coastpath is99% footpath. So I can't recommend that you ride that on a fast xc bike. Alternatively ride your fast xc bike or road bike along the coast road from Hayle to portreath-porthtowan-st agnes. Good little hut with minimal shelter selling, onion soup, coffee, flapjacks, hedgehog icecream....

Re: The post man's been ...

I bought, on a whim, a soshine tc12 usb rechargeable torch from Torchythebatteryboy. It came with a slightly sub standard bar mount and a super duper battery that burns for 4hrs on full power. Beam pattern is surprisingly effective. I have been using it on and offroad and I'm very happy with it. Mig...

Re: tubeless advice please

Converted my cross bike to tubeless last december. All good. I have charge saucer wheels. I think the rims are alex. I first built up the relatively deep and narrow central channel with several layers of super narrow gorilla tape (cut to exact width with a stanley knife). I then put 1 layer of goril...

Ooh yeah
I like your gold over silver.
Or root beer
There was a kona from the early 90s that had a bronze paint job. Lovely.
There was an old citroen berlingo colour option that was a sort of metallic yellow green.
Really quite striking but you wouldn't want matching shoes.
