Your favourite grid square?

Mine's SN 7889, it's probably where I've spent more nights than anywhere else. It's been the venue for 2 great battles over the last 1000 years and has seen its fair share of troubles, maybe that's why there's always a certain air of sadness to the place? It can feel bleak at anytime of year but it'...

Re: Winter Bivvy Cymru - details.

Popped out for a reccy ride today to make sure I could find said car park Okay, find Llangadfan on the map (SJ 012109), follow the A458 NW and after half a km turn right onto the B4395. Follow this for roughly 2.5km, after the second yellow road on the right (just after Penyffordd farm) you'll see ...

Clean forks with meths first and use a hairdryer to warm the forks before you stick the tape on.

Make a paper template first.

It's a bit of a bimble, there'll be lots of stopping at gates and gawping at stuff ... ride whatever you like, it really won't matter.

Re: Narrow bars = headache?

Peaked mountain bike helmet on drop bars forcing you to tilt your head back more maybe?
Try the same ride with no peak and see if it helps.
No peak.

I'll just put it down to the nature of what I was riding, it was pretty rough / rocky.

Obviously I'm well off the mark there then.

Narrow bars = headache?

I was out on my crosser yesterday and arrived home with a severe headache. The headache felt like it stemmed from my neck / shoulders, I know I took quite a pounding on some of the rougher trails but I wondered whether the fairly narrow bars might also have contributed to the neck/shoulders and ulti...

Having seen a couple of proto's in action, they look very nice, I love the idea of utilising space that's otherwise redundant.

Sorry to interject ... Gairy the SA cogs are specific but easily got and very cheap. You'll be wanting the ones with the 3 tang fitting.

Re: Old Maps, very

It's weird that people generally will get "upset" about woods being cut down, but will think nothing of popping a few logs on the fire in the evening. 40 years or more of growth reduced to ash in a matter of an hour or so. People fail to make the connection between growing trees and where...

As someone who 'criticises' other peoples riding for a living, I think many of them showed some good technique, if not speed. Sadly the video does make it look a bit like this.

Re: Old Maps, very

It's surprising just how much things change even when just looking at maps from the 1800's. Part of what is now the forest was ancient oak woodlands in the 1800's ... which rather oddly, may have been felled to allow the planting of big christmas trees  It's also surprising how many of the old...
