Re: Dales Divide whilst fasting!!

i reckon it is possible Shaf but you'd need to train your body for it. It's a process which can take a while and isn't always pleasant.

Might be worth chatting to Richard Shaf.

Re: Torino-Nice Rally logistics - tips?

Chew and me flew to Milan as it was much cheaper than flying into Torino from Manchester. Rode mostly through the night and the following morning to arrive like fresh daisies ready for the off the following day. Flew back from Nice. Carried CTC plastic bike bags with us which we'd cunningly modified...

I hope not, although it might explain the continual desire to run to the hills.

If you go down to the woods ...

Apparently, this is a picture taken by a dog walker who says a strange creature was following him in the woods not far from Aberystwyth. Wasn't one of you lot doing yoga was it? https://www.cambrian-news.co.uk/tindle-static/image/2024/01/12/13/16/hoax%20email.jpg?width=669&height=445&crop=66...

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.

When I was up between Xmas and New Year, the coffee was noticeably dead when using the lovely soft water out of the tap at my folks. You need some minerals, just not as many as I have down here... I could send you some of ours Bob - straight out of the ground it is, no filters, additives or sweeten...

Re: OT: Large travel bag recommendation

I may have one going spare Dave. Dee bought it for going on the back of her motorbike but it turns out not to be 100% waterproof. I'd need to check that it has wheels though.

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.

The cheery news is it's not raining and I've managed to remove the faulty (totally jammed) ignition barrel from the van - don't you just love sheer bolts, especially when they're fitted in a confined space and recessed :-bd

... be aware that the 20mph limits will now be enforced. 31mph is being touted as a 7 to 28 day ban and 26mph will get you points.

Re: How much grief can I expect?

Might do you right?
Except it's not high enough - more like sitting in a car than a van which causes hip issues. If you do buy a Kangoo, I'd avoid the 1.5DCI unless it has very low mileage, many self destruct not longer after 100k.

bamgernomics has worked for me. There really doesn't seem to be very much about John. I've sometimes had a cheap motor for ferrying dogs and crap about in but I think Dee would like something less shagged ... and you're right, I too think that 30k is completely mental. Re: How much grief can I expect?

Thanks all. The back story is that Dee would like to replace her NV200 but the criteria is: Van type size. Must fall into the 'mpv' category so can do 60 rather than 50 and cheaper insurance etc. Not a camper. Needs rear seats (see point above). Automatic as a clutch aggravates her hip on long trips...

Re: UK stamps for overseas users

Could it not just be done on-line Bob? Person in France buys postage for UK to France on-line, prints label and attaches it to envelope or whatever. Packages envelope and posts that from France to the UK. You put 500g of crack into envelope and drop it off at the post office. Sorry if I misunderstand.

How much grief can I expect with something like this? Say with 40k on it. Any known faults or issues?

Re: adding layers equation against cold ??

I think it'd be hard to get a meaningful answer that's not pure guesswork as there's so many variables to consider. Examples - wind speed / chill, raining or dry, tight fitting or loose layers, are your base layers tucked into your socks and is your top tucked into the bottoms to help avoid convecti...
