Re: Pass through charging. Grrrrr.......

Not sure if this will help but the way I stop blowing a gasket is with the following set up - cycle2charge charges a zendure a3 off of an sp dynamo (switch to revo light in eve) . During day garmin 64s runs off its own garmin rechargeable battery. At camp I then use the zendure to charge the garmin,...

Re: Anyone broken a Brooks Cambium?

I don't think its pize - im hitting the scales at a whopping 63kg and still have the weird crease behind the nose of the saddle. Its done about 7000km and although still behaving nicely to my butt, it looks rough as rats, but without the squeak.

Shocks shock

My rock shock 30 gold have got some backward and forward play in them making me think the bushes have gone. They're about 18 months old but have had a fair hammering in the gloopy bounds of Dartmoor and bashing round the highlands. There is also wear on the stanchion with the gold galvanising wearin...

We use a Followme tandem for our 6 yr old with her bike and have used it successfully properly touring and camping round Normandy and Brittany for the last two summers. We've got another trip planned linking the two areas this summer with her bike taking (Sorry) her own small panniers on the isla sp...

Re: The Perfect Bike Packing Bike

I fit right into my Ogre with its 100mm suspension on duallys and 2.4in tyres; short steep stem on jones loop bars and a Brooks Cambium to plonk my butt on. Unloaded its the ugliest bike going - a right ogre - but loaded up its a thing of beauty and a super dependable iron horse for long hours. If I...

Maxxis on a dually rim

Current set up of 2.4 continentals driving me mad loosing air and with leaky sidewalls so I'm thinking of putting maxxi tyres on. I assume 2.4 ardents will fit fine but has anyone put 2.35 ikons on a rim of this width? (Id like to build some new wheels with Ikons on blunt ss rims - but until I sell ...

Re: Downs 300 ITT

One of the problems with down south, is the amount of privately owned land and as a result there are a couple of place where it's use a foot path or a major detour. What are people's thought on a route that would have some small sections that would require the riders to officially walk bits? I like...

For summer use I use a Torrentshell Smock from Patagonia which is light packable and waterproof ( theyve gotan alpine M10 version which is lighter) or a Solomon Bonatti Jacket which is great as a very light just in case jacket. Do you think the harness will fit ok to jones loop bars? (I cant see why not) Timely post as Ive have been looking at the various options of harnesses to replace my handlebar bag. It only just managed to survive the last trip due to some trail magic in the form of bailer twine!

Re: Multi tool preference and tool kit ideas

I had a once in a life time issue (long story) needing pliers and although the squirt helped it made me think for an extra few grams I could get a proper grip with a bigger leatherman. I got a hole burning in my pocket too so ill be posting some more questions about gear. I hear October is going to ...

Multi tool preference and tool kit ideas

I took a teeny tiny Leatherman squirt on the HT550 and it looked great packed but really need a bigger pair of pliers which I know will be heavier but ultimately useable! Has anyone got a preference or good recommendation for the Leatherman or Gerber multitool options to suit a multi day trip? Im so...

Fitted my ogre out with their chain rings before this years highland fling. Whilst three up front was the subject of much humour they got my weedy legs round in one piece. I have a set on a 2000 pine mountain too so American bikes obviously need British engineering where it counts. End of an era.
