Re: 2018 favourites

Route: I cycled out the back door, along strath connon and glenuaig (solo, nice bivvy shy of the ruins before the lodge) then onwards to Loch/strath carron which helped cleanse my mind a little before meeting up with scotroutes and coming back the AKW (and aforementioned bivvy at the head of the Loc...

Re: Steel 29er choices

From Cy at Cotic on wheelbase... (sorry about large text dump but I found it interesting): A few more people have questioned the wheelbase on the bike. I have always thought that people get a little too hung up on wheelbase. I have never once designed a bike with a wheelbase in mind, or an intentio...

What size LS geo did you get?
Large, with 35mm stem. Finally a bike that’s the right size for me, not an in between :-bd

Re: Steel 29er choices

I have both Solaris (multiple) and a Sherpa. The Sherpa is more fun than the older ‘solari’ but the longshot geo knocks all that into a cocket hat. The new SolarisMAX is a confidence inspiring (and comfortable) ride. My bikepacking bike is a mk1 SolarisMAX (old geo) bought and built for its express ...

Modular dropouts so you can get qr, 142 or boost...

Or cheap though...

Not sure of geo but 67.5 HA (iirc).

Ahem, quite often available 2ndhand I believe....

Re: Bivvy a month 2018.

09 Autumn Equinox: After last years trip (Garve-Ullapool-Garve) me and SR were keen to keep up the tradition of an autumn equinox bivvy trip. After a major fanny about I finally made the RP (only 40 minutes late for an already 30 minute delayed start...) Moy Bridge car park. We headed out the gravel...

Terry, how is the inner loop riding atm?

I’ve been contemplating riding it as a day excursion (except not sure I’m properly fit for it). Did it (well except Feshie to Morlich was done on the road) 20 years ago in 7.5 hours and keep thinking I need to give it a try....
