Re: Winter boots

I spent a lot of this mornings ride seriously considering buying some of the Spatz overshoes. However, at £85 or £100 a pair, I think I'd be frightened of using them just in case I knackered them...

Re: Bargain Alert Thread

A cheap fat bike I remember these getting good reviews Only £412 now https://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/15901415/calibre-dune-fat-bike-15901415 The Dune is a great bike, and that's a bonkers price! Just be aware that it doesn't like a longer seatpost, as I found out to my cost when my frame cracked. Plus...

Re: So, those cheap On-One helmets

Tried one of the On-One helmets a while back and found the same thing. I have an oval shaped head, it didn't fit, way too tight front to back, and way too loose at the sides. So I bought a Smith MIPS helmet cheap in a sale, which I wouldn't buy again as it's on the heavy side.

Re: Todays ride

First real non-fettling ride of the new bike. Took the bottom bracket off on Saturday and then used less torque to do it up again, the bike no longer rides like it has a dragging brake; which is nice. I also put bar tape on, badly as per normal, but the bike now looks complete. Time to get some seri...

Re: What you doing next year?

I've signed up for The Dirty Reiver 200 in April, my first mass participation cycling event. Also my first mass participation event since the Bedford standard distance Triathlon in 2007. As a newbie to all this organised cycling malarkey, I liked the sound of the Frontier 300 and if I get an entry, ...

I have Spank Wing 12 Vibrocore™ bars fitted to my RAG+. I've been to the end of the High St and back, they felt fine. Can't comment yet about the vibration reduction core stuff yet though. They fit your not a mega flare bit being 12°, not sure about the cheap bit though... Planet-X have Selcof Sterr...

GRX Shifter Issue

I asked this on STW , but figure some on here prolly don't frequent there, so I thought I'd ask here too. I’ve been slowly installing all the bits for the GRX groupset to the RAG+. Last thing I need to do is get the 1x setup and running, I’ve followed the instructions for the ST-RX810-R dual control...

Where abouts are you? ... thinking logistics. I'm just outside Cambridge, my Brother lives near Catterick Garrison and my parents in Fife, near Dunfermline. So I have a number of easily accessible starting points. The plan for this year was to start doing BAM, but a broken frame, and outdoor swimmi...

True, but as I'm coming from a standing start, so to speak, it's nice to know what I should be looking at attempting first.

I've gone GRX 1x with the 42T rear cassette, on the basis that that's what the Shimano website said would work. There is some chat about this on a STW thread. Scotroutes thinks you might need a MTB SGS rear mech and some sort of ratio converter. 🤷‍♂️

Last winter I tried ordering from China and bought a SPEXCEL winter top . Fit was odd, snug on the body, but cut for an orangutan's arms. I probably wouldn't buy another, as I don't fit that profile on the ape index . I was planning on trying the AlpKit Rhythm Thicky this winter, it looks a bargain ...

Regarding On One/Planet X. I bought a lurcher frame from them (carbon 29er) which has been great. It arrived without the drop outs though, so I tweeted Brant and they were in the post that day. That was 5 or 6 years ago though. Given all the Planet-X / On-One threads on STW, that's appears to still...
