Thanks for the suggestions both, I’ve picked up an etrex 20 on eBay. :-bd

Thanks both. Hand on heart, I can’t say I fully recommend the pineapple Jaffa cakes, they were ‘ok’ once the brioches had run out

Re: Bivvy a Month 2021

Rearranging plans to try and avoid the worst of the wetness on Saturday saw us rolling out of Oxford in the evening. After a nice circuit of some delightful A roads  we pulled in to a big Sainsbury’s to buy junk for dinner and breakfast (pineapple Jaffa Cakes...) the plan was to road pack Lost ...

Re: Diving down the dynamo rabbit hole

SON edelux mk2, is it good enough to run off road? I wouldn’t have said so, I’ve used mine on a few (road) rides and feels very much like a road specific light, kind of like car headlights with dipped beams. Could lead to issues with low branches off road, also the low speed beam wouldn’t be terrib...

WTD: Etrex 20/30 or similar - SORTED.

Figured its time to upgrade the Extra 10 to something that will show a map.
I really like the etrex AA batteries, bombproof etc and I could do with seeing an OS map occasionally.

Does anyone have anything in good nick needing a new home? Preferably with mapping SD card.

Thanks.

Now sorted.

Re: Bearbones Bookclub - On the Red Hill

Thanks for recommending, I just finished it having bought it after seeing this thread. A cracking read, I’m always impressed at the way some authors delve into their own character traits. Food for thought sometimes. It's a lovely book, am part way through. Here's George, having "re-found the vi...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2021

Oddly enough it’s a memorial to a horse... Farley Mount? I'd never considered that as a bivi spot but I've only been there in the day when it's busy. That’s the one. I had a quick look around the car parks to see if anybody was around. The area can be, how shall I say, popular after dark...or so I’...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2021

Early finish at work meant I could go for a long ride. Took the road tourer to head off into the New Forest for fish and chips. Came back via Salisbury (the Russians were right, it is a nice Cathedral!) and bedded down in local spot. Nice and sheltered from the wind. Oddly enough it’s a memorial to ...

WTD: 12spd Shimano Microspline Cassette Lockring

Possibly a long shot, but if anyone has one of these kicking around I’d be very grateful. They appear to be out of stock everywhere. For a 12spd SLX cassette but I believe the XT or Deore ones are the same. It would seem that whoever built my bike in the first place cross threaded this and it is now...

Re: Brake pad retention methods

Thanks all, sounds like a pair of pliers should come in handy anyway.

I should have clarified, the bolt holding my rear pads fell out the other day, must have been unlucky to have rattled loose as it’s not been touched for months.

Brake pad retention methods

I had previously favoured brake pads that are retained by a bolt over split pins as I saw it as a faff to have to carry a pair of pliers just in case. UNTIL, my ride on Saturday when I found out how much of a faff it is to not be able to brake ‘coz yer pads ain’t there  (Incredibly this happene...

Is there a tarp in that photo? It blends in so well   Indeed, hence the brightly coloured guy lines to help me find it. the stand light function is a tad obvious when one is trying to be discreet. I take my revo off the bars and put it in my luggage for that very reason, otherwise it broa...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2021

Popped out into the Downs on Saturday night to test two things. Firstly my dynamo set up on the tourer, works great although the stand light function is a tad obvious when one is trying to be discreet. Second my new (to me, thanks ScotRoutes) Silwing tarp. I need to colour code the tie out points so...
