A few tools - Victorinox bike wrench, Park chain tool & Lezyne mini pump, Co2 canister/adapter and a small fitting with tyre levers and space for easy patches. Now just need to learn how to use them  Sad, really.

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.

I should stress it's not everyday, only Saturdays, I mean I don't want to survive covid and overdose on 'calcium'. That'd be tragic. I get what you mean though. I don't normally drink during the week but, what with WFH and home-schooling, I started to enjoy a beer on Wednesday too. Slippery slope. T...

Carbon feet blimey what an upgrade, don't go down the, same path as Oscar Pissedoff-torius, his Prosthetic legs were guilty ma'lord.
lol You're right, it is a risk but the savings on socks over the years will be substantial and couldn't be ignored.

Re: The post man's been ...

Not quite today but a day or two ago I received a Exped SynMat UL Lite M Sleeping Mat after asking for help in choosing a decent mat. Went for the 5cm instead of the 7cm partly due to availability and price. I'm not massive so I think I'll get away with this and still be comfortable. Seems decent. S...

Re: What are you drinking now?

Panther APA tonight and a Bristol Beer Factory Expresso Martini stout...which was nice. This came from a Beer52 subscription that I started before Xmas. Good deal to begin with but probably slightly over-priced once you get into regular subscription. Still, quite nice to get it delivered. A really g...

First choice tonight was Talking Heads 'More Songs of Buildings & food' Then Mogwai's 'As Love Continues'. If you're into this stuff You'll likely be aware already. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E041SMexwlA&list=PLMEpKogEKUAhK4yVkOAg0_fT2RE7L3rRG&index=3 Lastly, Bon Iver's 'i,i'. Not e...

Re: Today's Run

I run neither fast nor long but I have run consistently 3-4 times a week over the last 3 yrs after taking it up again, Not that I did that much when I did do it before. Run today was 6.5km in 36 mins, chasing Teen on bike with dog. Elevation was 70ft. Well, this is Norfolk! A bit cloudy but all thro...

Re: Future plans.....??

Cheers for that, Sean, looks really promising. I think that might get the nod before the WHW. I like the area and it has flexibility within it too. I might be getting over ambitious and over-reaching myself but I'm getting lured into thinking of this as a challenge. 4 days?! I'll do it in 3. I have ...

Re: New member saying hello, and a question about camping

Really good question this and the replies are really helpful. I too am expecting to be pretty nervous when I go out for the first time. I'm probably slightly more apprehensive about wild camping locally than I am about heading out into the wilds. Favourite line of the whole thread... Few people tend...

Re: What are you listening to now?

Just finished listening to 'The slide song' with my headphones on - sooooo good! Just brilliant that. I think this was my 1st listen Spiritualized and blew me away at the time. 'Ladies and Gentlemen....; gets a lot of (justified) praise but Pure Phase is a great album. All Of My Tears just kills. I...

Re: Future plans.....??

Hi, sorry, yes the WHW I know, the route I was asking for was the Trossach loop. As far as the WHW, I''ve still got it as an option. I don't think bother with carrying the bike over rocks etc, I'd just skip that and cycle the roads and pick up the trail at a suitable point. I have a decent idea of w...

Re: Recommend a sleeping mat

Thanks again everybody. Some great advice and focused the search to what will work well. I'd prefer to buy better once, so accept that spending a bit more is probably the way to go. I had bookmarked a Thermorest Neoair Uberlight at R2.3, 158g @£130 but, on the balance of positive posts towards Exped...

Re: Recommend a saddle bag

Ok thanks everybody. I like the harness idea and have had a look around at Wildcat and Acepack. Where else should I look? I like the flexibility of the items, different sizes, replace one item instead of the whole lot. That makes complete sense.

*always hard to quantify and open to personal preference but in this instance I mean, quieter, more engaging riding and more inspiring in terms of scenery and backdrop. Re: What are you listening to now?

I've been lurking for a while with the odd post to mine for advice and have been impressed with what gets listened to. Notable but surprising (only because no one I know listens to them except me) highlights have been Spacemen 3 and also Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, so I'd like to post a couple. How abo...

Recommend a saddle bag

As well as my post on a sleeping mat, I'm also after your expertise on a saddle bag. I have done a fair bit of digging and there are some really nice but more expensive options. I guess the decision to make is around how much I want to pay for a 1st bag. I don't mind spending on quality but I'm also...

Recommend a sleeping mat

Evening All I'm looking to purchase a sleeping mat in the next couple of weeks. I've short-listed a few from around £40-50 with no R-rating up to £130 at R2.9 and only 158g. Realistically, this is more than I want to spend, so I'm looking for a good value, decent quality and reasonably light. So, ca...

Evening Being new to all this, I've been spending my time recently, researching kit, 'How-To's', places to go, as well as plucking up the courage to get out when the weather improves. Re: WTD - Lightweight Stove Solutions

Thanks very much for the help, Folks. Ok, that's helped decide to give the BB stove a try. I've got enough time to practice before I go for an overnight. I've got my 8yr old Daughter interested in a hot chocolate on one of our little cycle rides while getting exercise. Sounds like a good reason to p...
