Thanks to John and everyone else who had a hand in the weekend. Good company, lovely weather and proof that when you put community before commercial interest, nice things can happen. https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kSRNCMOMSvg/XYdoNJ5cbKI/AAAAAAAAHQE/Spd7rYiqFyEONLkescnd-gyR2Bmu3wCwQCLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/raf...

Re: Todays ride
I might have an idea for November  It’s a little silly :-bd I’m enjoying the bromnie, getting in a lot of rides at times/places where they wouldn’t normally happen. The above was off the cuff, finished job early, so went exploring. Surprisingly enjoyable ride, lots going on beside the river, I...

Re: Todays ride
A very pleasant 20miles along the Thames path from Greenwich to Erith and back, sun was out and very interesting riding along looking at the old moorings, still quite an industrious river further out. Think Reg would enjoy it, lots of old industrial relics. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/487566...

Re: Pack rafting Sept 20/21/22 in North Wales - 5 ranges of pack rafts to test for free
Looking forward to this, I may have to pull out of the little trip if my lad is not confident, he’s done a bit of canoeing etc we’ll just have to play it by ear. To be honest it’s been a long time since I paddled a boat, spent many years wind surfing and worked on a fishing boat but I have a feeling...

Re: Veloviewer map - explorer tiles
Cheers Ben, I’m not entirely sure what you mean. My current tactic is to have the veloviewer explorer map open on one tab and Live location OS mapping to navigate, it kinda works but if I could get real time location on the veloviewer map it would make things much easier

Re: Fed up with Garmin. Alternatives?
Waterproof iPhone+ son dynamo+ ViewRanger works a treat and has taken me across two countries ( Spanish C2C and Jogle) plus countless off-road trips. Never crashes, always saves my ride and can use multiple mapping applications and does all sorts of fancy stuff like taking really good photos, I coul...

Re: Veloviewer map - explorer tiles
I’ve used it on the PC but it’s not the best, I’ve been using the bromnie and if I finish work early then just stop on the way home and get a couple of hours in :-bd an additional bonus is that Mrs D doesn’t know how much time I’ve been spending on the bike. I like just ambling along making up a rou...

Re: Veloviewer map - explorer tiles
A mixed on/off-road ride of 51 miles bagged me some tricky squares and got me up to 14x14, I had to HAB across a field to reach a square mostly inside Jaguar’s test track. After doing a 15 mile ride on the bromnie and missing a tile by 5 feet I made sure I’d gone far enough. I wish there was a live ...

Re: Straight Outta Door - Ride from home Trips.
I’ve ridden to lands end from my front door, wild camping along the way, also Avebury. I live in a fairly uninspiring place for off road rides, my local bivvy rides usually involve a spin up the local cut, there is probably some interesting rides and bivvy spots out towards the Cotswolds but it’s a ...

I think you may found the problem James, the danger is these brands turn into fashion items and the quality then drops.
I wore my OMM jacket riding through London the other day, have I accidentally become cool at 50

A9 into Inverness is the pissing rain, it’s like being on a motorway but with zero hard shoulder. Very scary and not recommended even in good visibility. You hear another lorry bearing down on you and wonder ‘will this be the one?’

Re: What you done t' your bike today
Had the bromnie on the stand to true the front wheel after some idiot ran it over, luckily I ....errr....he pulled away slowly so just a tweaked front rim . 10 minutes and good as new. Knew the wheel building practice would come in handy :-bd Also cleaned the rims and aligned the pads, not had to do...
