Re: Today's Run

Snuck an hour in yesterday, through the mud, woods and fog on my own. About 11km and not an awful lot of climbing (for Sheffield) but nice to just get out. Pretty much stuck in the house this week, as my daughter has tested positive, and my son has chemo next Wednesday, but a quick run was enough to...

I'd go a bit simpler, from a single piece of bent bar (maybe 4mm?)

Re: West Sheffield mid week evening ride?

I'm in Lodge Moor, so just up the hill, and always up for a local ride. Message me it you like. Also, if you've not ridden round here much before then I can probably show you various new local trails

If you don't mind a larger hub, have you looked at fat bike forks? Not sure of a2c on mine but think it's about 500?

Re: DOH! WTF?FFS and other outbursts

Excellent work Duncan, and at hopefully you manage some kind of distanced conversations, in addition to playing in the mud! Commiserations Dave B - my daughter got a positive lft the morning, so we're now spending Christmas as a 4 not a 10... Too much spare food in the house now, and dad/daughter cl...

No problem, just up the road in Lodge Moor if you need anything.

Don't think I know anyone at Stockbridge as I teach out in the wilds of Rotherham!

Are you still coming to Sheffield? If so, and if there's anything I can do to help, let me know.

Where does your son teach? Wondering if I know him?

Re: 2022 Plans (to go with the 2021 Reflections thread)

As with many others, not making any big plans this year... but here's a few... Bob Graham round, running rather than on the bike but similar traits required. Get back to climbing/bouldering at a decent level again - went last night and really enjoyed the smooth, flow feeling on a couple of tough pro...

Re: What you done t' your bike today

Fitted some drop bar pogies to my gravel/cx/commuting bike. Bit tricky as it's got the old style STi shifters where the cable comes out the side, but OK.

Rode round to the post office in the piddling rain, and they're amazing!

Almost certainly yes to the Rab trousers - any chance you could measure the width at the thigh please, as I have thunder thighs and often have to size up!

Re: cold weather leg wear ?

I've no experience of these, as I tend to wear Roubaix tights under either shorts or overtrousers when it's very cold, but how about buffalo teclite trousers? I've ridden in the full weight trousers, and below about -5 they're great, so maybe the lighter ones would work for most UK winter weather?

British racing green or a JPS style black & gold would be my choice if I were re-painting a frame at the moment.

First run in absolutely ages today. Staying in leominster with a few other families and 3 of us went for a very gentle 6k this morning. Next to no hills, super slow, but very social and pleasant non the less.

Re: Which 3 to 4 Season Glove do you Recommend?

Pogies look great - might treat myself to a set. Regarding gloves, I find that the Aldi winter ones are ideal, and about 1/3 the price of others. Kept my hands happy all the way through strathpuffer, even though my toes got frostbite the same weekend. The also do a lobster claw set sometimes.

Re: Ethel Ready App - Peak District peak bagging app

I've had the app for a while, but the main issue is as Greg said - you can only tick off the tops from the list, which is fine for the obvious ones but a bit of a pain with the more obscure... Still very good though, and I'm 33 Ethels in.

No photos, but the postie brought a barely used DD Scout hammock for my daughter (from here) yesterday, and an Alpkit underquilt for me (from their spacesaver sale at the weekend). Now just to find a nice enough night to use them

Sheffield half marathon done in 1:39:59 gun time (which required a rather hurty final 200m), 1:39:51 chip time. Now riding home, shower and collapse!

Blimey! I thought he'd at least be on a longboard! That's going to be even harder on something short and stiff (although I guess the kickflip wouldn't have been so easy!)

Good luck to the man - think I did about 3 miles on mine today, not sure I'd fancy nearly 1000.
