A WRT on Bromptons.

Well. It was Thursday. The Thursday before the WRT. I’d just had a new bike delivered. I’d mentioned to Nick that it was coming, but not what the bike would be. I sent a picture over. The question came back…. “What about WRT on Brommies?” I replied positively, then we both thought “what the actual f...

Re: Thank you ...

Thanks as well from the Brompton duo of Dr Nick and I.
I think we raised some smiles, and was great to come away with both a raffle prize and some unexpected beer!
Great too to see some new and old faces at BB towers, the lemon drizzle cake was exemplary and much appreciated at the finish.

Re: eBikes for the ladies?

I’ve had an Orbea Gain for around three years, Mrs Pickers uses it now if we’re out together. My 2p worth… splendidly reliable, uses the same hub motor as the Ribble (and Colnago I believe). No problem pedalling either with the motor off or above the 15.5 mph cut off. The battery is fixed in the fra...

Re: portsmouth to dartmoor electric tour...charging stops

As TBD says, spend some cash - you’re gonna be there a while for any useful charge so don’t just take up space. I didn’t have any hassle that way when I had mine, but then I didn’t see buying food as a problem! Rule 1.

Re: Ideal Spoke Count

Back when I was not so well I had a Turbo Levo full fat ebike. The factory spec Roval wheels on that (27.5+) had 24 front and 28 rear.
That bike, with bikepacking kit and rider were likely 150kg. No grief at all. If the wheels are built well then 32 f&r are fine I’d say.

FS - Sonder Nova 29" Wheelset - SOLD

Basically the stock wheelset from the Frontier in the other ad These are also in a good clean condition, bearings are still smooth, both wheels are running true. They are set up with tubeless tape but I've refitted the stock 29x2.4" WTB tyres with tubes. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/5122...

Destroying parts!

On the back of the shifter thread, I’m surprised at the people that have broken various bits of their bike. I started riding offroad(ish...) in 1993. I’ve never broken any of the major parts of any bike I’ve had. Plenty of stuff I’ve worn out - including a couple of canti braked rims, one of which l...

Re: Anyone used large Carradice pack for off road?

Can’t speak directly about the Carradice, but I have used a 40yr old (original) Karrimor saddlebag in recent years in Scotland and France with a normal rear rack and a compression strap to hold the whole bag onto the rack as well as the saddle straps. Not sure I’d trust the Carradice bracket off roa...

Re: A dilemma.....

Depends a bit on your finances and hoarding tendencies, but given current parts availability it mightn't be the worst thing to have some spares handy. Very much this This is my line of thinking too, although actual mechanical failures are very rare indeed for me. I’ve not kept spare parts at all in...

Re: A dilemma.....

The failure was simply a tension spring popped out from the release lever. I’d say extremely likely to reoccur. Fixable when out and about certainly but fiddly and very likely to lose parts.
Ok. Decision made. Keeping.
Do I tell Mrs Pickers I fixed it....?

A dilemma.....

Out for a ride today, the RH SRAM shifter failed. Wouldn’t click up or down, it was stuck just up from the middle of the cassette so rideable. Couple of miles from home so straight back and then out on another bike. Ride done. Obviously these new fangled 12sp shifters are pretty delicate, once they ...

Good advice here. BP that high can give the same crap as I’ve had/got - you want to be avoiding that! Coffee makes some difference but not huge for me so I wouldn’t necessarily lose too much sleep there (nice machine btw!). Make sure you tell the doc you’re pretty active - it may have some influence...

Reg and I bivvied at a spot near Ashby last year. Seemed quiet but turned out to be under the flight path for East Mids airport..... Nice spot but I'd go a bit nearer the LB end if you actually like sleep!

Has anybody else noticed this on VV? On the map screen a small camera icon has appeared in the top right corner..... If you do an update and dab the check for new segments button, VV imports all the pics (or at least a URL thumbnail) from Strava so you can view them in VV. If you select the VV map a...

I feel somebody needs to strongly stand up to this kind of political diatribe. He doesn't know which direction to head in and ends up going round in circles when we need strong ...

Same as Colin, no guilt here.

If you the files on your PC you can also copy them onto Garmins that don't have an SD slot (Edge Explorer), they work and route just fine.
