Anyone know what size tyre (and on what width rim) will comfortably fit into standard Genesis fortitude adventure forks?
just wondering how fat/ plus I can go without having to change the forks..

For post-WRT-gearing lowering: A 23T rear (Nexus) sprocket for my Alfine 11. Hopefully it fits OK -having read conflicting reports. looks like it will... just need to find the links I removed when I fitted the new chain and 20t sprocket pre-WRT. and a clever C-Tek battery charger for the car, until ...

Re: Clips or flats?
as a veteran of WRT LHC 'B' team I can confirm that Pickers (the OP of this thread) doesn't need flats to look Rad! That's a given!

Re: Clips or flats?
Interesting question and responses. I used spds on and off road for about 15 years, but I'm a slow and steady rider as The LHC team B will testify. Big air is not in my repertoire! I went back to flats about 5 years ago due to knackered ligaments in my R ankle. The clipping in and out was not good a...

Re: Thanks mr bearbones!
Echoing the sentiments of others - thanks to Stuart and Dee for organising a fabby long weekend. Thanks to /chew for a LHC route B which the vaguely exciting 'B' team kind of followed. Thanks to the aforementioned 'B' team - Scott of the woods, RIP, Pickers, and Norway calling (on day one). A great ...

Re: Undershort Suggestions
Another vote for endura here. Not an undershort but I wear them as that. I use the fs260 pro (now the pro II, I think) shorts under a pair of non cycling specific baggies from decathlon, the latter waterproofed with waterproofing stuff... Endura do different grades of pads rated by miles / hours of ...

I make a list of some description, (not usually with weights listed, but... this thread has got me thinking...) after arriving at Hay book festival with the family to discover we had a 'parent' tent but no poles! Thankfully the kid's tents were complete, and the person camping next to us at the camp...

Re: The post man's been ...
Serious question - given the difference in price, are Bromptons that much better than other folding bikes? The equipment fitted as standard appears quite run of the mill. Not wanting to go too off topic to the thread, I couldn't resist an answer... I've a very early Brompton I was given as the prev...

thanks all for the info. Most useful
Stuart, that's a very neat windshiled. A simpler-er version sounds great. I'll be in touch with some stove dimensions by PM, if i may!

Re: Todays ride
Tested out my new Alpkit bags, anything HD cages, weight distribution, and my newly lowered gearing, (20t rear sprocket on the alfine rather than the 18t) with a very muddy 13 1/2 miles along the Ridgeway from Chinnor to Watlington - and back yeasterday afternoon. I popped into the co-op in Watlingt...

windshield and gas stove - risk of overheating?
so I recently bought myself a Alpkit Kraku bijou and compact gas stove - going for gas, mainly because i don't trust myself with handling flammable liquids when I'm tired/sleepy. I was about to look into whether a Bear Bones windshield would fit - when I noticed in amongst the myriad of instructions...

Milk for tea when bivvying
My name's Nick and I drink lots of tea! So I'm thinking about the best way of ensuring civilisation doesn't crumble and I have tea with milk on a forthcoming multi-day ride. :-bd I'll compromise my name pamby southerner needs and accept UHT milk. The best compromise I've found is the little pyramid ...

Re: Lauf Grit "Gravel" fork
Interesting fork and discussion. I'm of an age (or attitude, not sure which it is) whereby I've only ever ridden rigid bikes from a 531 framed Dawes Ranger (in 'gate' size) with a wheelbase as long as the QE2, in the 80s)... Makes me think I should maybe try this new fangled suspension sometime, not...

Thanks all for the comments and the link to the earlier thread that I'd failed to find. Useful food for thought. Another vote for the Mussen ebook. I'd not been near fettling a wheel for years except for a bit of t...
