This’ll calm things nicely
Maybe you should ask everyone for 360degree feedback appraisals, and take it to someone senior for a personal development review.... :-bd

Re: Marketing fun. Just how great is this bike/part?

TBH, with the dodgy translation I found it hard to work out whether it’s an actual product or a joke.
If it’s a joke it’s not that funny and if it’s a product.... it’s a joke!

Re: Marketing fun. Just how great is this bike/part?

They look excellent.
Bloody Brexit means they’ll be hard to get here I bet.
I wonder if they would do them in sets of 3 rather than 10, they’d be under the £135 limit for import duty then.
You should put the link in the PSA thread so more people see it.

Wouldn’t eat a magpie either, unless I was terribly hungry - can’t be good eating at all.

I didn’t know that the cracks were ‘a thing’.
If it is at all relevant mine split as I torqued it onto a new BB rather than in use.

Re: Über niche chainring search - HELP!!!

Square taper or X-Type?
You could always ditch the spider and get a Middleburn Uno Thick/Thin ring - round.

https://www.mountainbikecomponents.co.u ... tt-spider/

Or..... nothing. A few days ago they had them for square taper as well, but not now.

Re: 29+ Tyres Vanished?

Yes it sucks. I guess a small business (maybe the Polish store the Chronicles are coming from) are simply ignoring the fact they need to pay UK Vat and assuming they will get away with it - who is going to enforce it after all?

Re: Going tubeless...

Many folk use Gorilla tape (though many of those use the wrong Gorilla Tape and end up with a sticky mess - you want the shiny, clear stuff). I use the ‘wrong Gorilla Tape’ ie. the thick black stuff and it works perfectly. I assume almost any smooth, waterproof tape with good enough glue would do t...

Re: 29+ Tyres Vanished?

From Money Savings Expert: If you order online from the EU and the consignment value – the total order (minus delivery charges and taxes) – costs £135 or less, you shouldn't have to pay anything extra. VAT will be included in the price you're shown when you pay online – as it was prior to Brexit – a...

Re: Clothing cockup

Aye, the combination of wet and wind is a real killer. It's one of the reasons why I try and remain dry for as long as possible, usually choose 'outdoor' clothing over 'cycling' clothing and have great suspicion of people who say ' warm and wet' You’re not wrong. ‘Warm and wet’ really only w...

Re: Clothing cockup

Wet, windy and temperatures around zero degrees is the perfect recipe for hypothermia. In the RAF I very rarely dealt with hypothermia cases with squaddies on winter exercises in Canada or Norway. But get them soaked to the skin at Otterburn, Sennybridge or Okehampton and they were dropping like fli...

Re: 29+ Tyres Vanished?

I’ve not tried them but yes I’d judge them to be too beefy on weight alone. If I remember correctly mine were about 1200 g for the Minion and 1100 g for the DHR II. Both EXO and 29 x 3.0". Still a bit lardier than than my usual choices and as I tend to spend 2/3 of my ride time going up hills ...

Re: 29+ Tyres Vanished?

I find it a bit weird no one mentions Maxxis Minion and DHR II - to beefy for most? Anyways, both come in 29 x 3" and offer great grip in slop of all sorts and are very comfy without being too bouncy (well that sounds stupid). Durable sidewalls. You get a lot of tyre for the price. Not quite t...

Does any of this change the world? Not really. I disagree, it does change the world but the magnitude is not as perceptible as you would like. A ship still lists if a fly lands on the handrail. Every action of the thoughtful consumer helps and I feel we mustn’t propagate the feeling that we cannot ...

Ethical consumption is a vastly complex subject, and one, in my experience, that only becomes more complicated the more you investigate it. The bottom line is any purchase of anything has consequences over a broad spectrum - environmental, human rights, sustainability, animal rights etc. Most people...

I have no reason for leaving it overnight except to make sure the bead I’m leaving on is stuck tight. I’ve left it a couple of hours and it been fine. It sounds like your tape is sub-optimal, but you already know that. People use Gorilla Tape, Tessa Tape or specific tubeless tape with equally good r...

The 29+ Thread

Following on from the who stole the 29+ tyres thread (me probably, I just bought some Trek XR4 to go with the Bombolino I bought on Wednesday) I though it would be nice to have a place for all things plus. My first question would be what tyre pressure do people run? Currently I’m down to 11psi front...
