Re: Bike Abuse, Am I bad?

If you're regularly travelling to ride in different locations, it's worth considering the benefits of cleaning your bike to reduce the risk of transferring plant/animal diseases from one area of the country to another.

Aye, looks very deluxe. Do you carry all the kit up every time, Jeff? Or does the hut now have some permanent fixtures (e.g. the grill)?

Visions of Dave heading down to his allotment for a quiet morning indulging his new pipe smoking routine, only to be confronted by Reg and a merry band of BAMmers nestled in the potting shed.

Re: Bargain Alert Thread

The EPS turn into buckets as soon as any water gets in via the big hole at the top. I've got both Goretex and regular Trailcross. I use the regular ones with waterproof socks. The socks keep my feet dry, the shoes don't get waterlogged and dry out much quicker than the more freeridey 5.10s. Downside...

That's brilliant. Took kid 1 for a falconry experience just before Christmas, they had a great time. 👍

I think I might need to call in some professional help from, appropriately, Bearlegged or somebody. I'd love to help, I really would, but I'm currently dealing with this matter from Belgium. Apparently the bar only serves it by the half, but my companion found some sort of workaround. https://files...

Re: Have tarps lost their popularity?

I think there's something about being open to the world that I prefer over being completely enclosed in a tent. Quite happy with a mesh panelled bivvy to keep the teeth away. I should maybe look into a bigger, more versatile tarp ( a la Reg), but I've got a consistent set-up for now, that I find ver...

Re: Have tarps lost their popularity?

Of my last 15 bivvies, I've not taken a tarp for 3 of them.

For those 3 bivvies, I've been snowed on, and rained on twice. And yes, I did check (and triple-check) the forecasts. FFS.

A couple of pints of "I don't want spaghetti again", from Shiny brewery this evening, accompanying a good chin wag with a load of folk from Peak District MTB and DMBinS.

150ml is good for sharing on an overnighter or does a 3-4 day trip.. ymmv etc.. Reminds me of a little trip I did with a friend, some notes from my journal: Day 1 ...Nearly half-way now, and we paused for a dram. Day 2 We were both feeling surprisingly chipper, despite the casualties of last night ...

What a way to start the day. A couple of hours showing some MTB advocacy folk around some of Sheffield's finest trails. A light dusting of snow out there, just enough to be grippy. Pogies are ace.
