My dad wants to replace all of his alloy frames with steel ones, and his cross bike is next.
It needs to be about a 58cm frame with canti bosses, something like a first gen kaffeback or a cotic X.
What have you got?

That takes some balls, good work!
Looks really well finished and the decals look like they were there from new.

Also registering interest, dependent on pictures, possibly without the fork if you'd be willing to do that?

Another 'would it work'
Anyone know if it would be possible to replace the head tube on a steel frame with a larger diameter one? My Karate Monkey has a 1 1/8" head tube and I'd like to replace it with one that will take a tapered steerer. If it's possible, would it be expensive?

Re: off topic: anyone here into trail running?
I fell run nowhere near as much as I should, but I love it. I find it makes hike a bike a lot more tolerable and faster. Agree with IanFitz about running up hills, my best results have come from walking faster up hills than others could run purely because it's so much more efficient on steep gradien...

Any chance there's BB200 'results' in the pipeline? I'm only slightly desperate
(Realised that sounds really rude, obviously it really doesn't matter when, I'm just being an impatient teenager.)

Hasn't arrived but I ordered some BB7 callipers and rotors off eBay (£57, bargain) for my surly, the ease of setup is drawing me away from my TRP Spykes.

I might just be weird, lucky, or just young and resilient , but don't get all thus weird expensive bike packing bars stuff... I have never got any particular hand pain and I have rigged forks. The bars I use are just normal but super wide like 800 haha , flat aluminum bars , with quite fat lock on ...

I found that my rear mech got very crapped up on the BB200 this year, no problem with shifting though.

I find sealskins socks to be warmest as they act like a wetsuit holding moisture against your feet and allowing it to warm up. I have some of their extra thick merino blend ones too which are really really warm.

Seems my strategy is now basically set given that I've left home. My plan is to go for the best time I can, given the amount of riding I've done recently this year seems like as good a shot as I'll ever get so I'm going for it. In my dream world I'd like a time which starts with a 1 (19h 59.59 will ...

BB200 strategies?
What are people's plans for the BB200 this weekend?
Ride through or stop and sleep? Slow and steady or going for a record time?
I'm trying to decide how to ride it so thought I'd see what the general consensus is. (That and we obviously don't have enough bb200 threads already )

So I know that they are incredibly strict on bike rules, but I'm wondering if you could get away with something such as a salsa Cutthroat with less flared drops (cowbells etc)? Seems it could possibly make the descents easier and thereby faster?
Never done the race but I'm certainly interested.

Think Stu recommended Tenns before (check the reviews). Pretty cheap. I picked up a pair but with time and opportunity lacking (and not such a bad summer) I haven't used them much / at all. My Tenn waterproof shorts are still going strong. They're probably not the highest quality but given the pric...
