Save yourself about £100 and google kemo m172n and buy from Conrad, I've got 2, 1 of which is 7 years old and works flawlessly.

R1g is also used as an alternative to bike, particularly on some of the US sites such as Bikepacking.com i.e Joe Blogs just completed the Tour Divide in a day on his Salsa r1g. It is disliked by our benevolent dictator and included in his eccentric swear filter and changed to bicycle, much to the co...

Re: Wildcat - the final sale

Doh! Went out on the bikepacking bike for the first time in a few months as I've been favouring the gravel recently, lo and behold the frame bag zip broke! It peeled back from the closed side about half its length. I managed to close it working the zip opener backwards if that makes sense but I thin...

Ah, I see, that would work. Thanks for the explanation, the straps on Amazon are looped so should work with minimal faff.

Re: Attaching a quilt to a mat, any tricks?

Found some on Amazon.es that look ideal, 4 short clips to see whether clipping to the mat works and 2 long ones to go under the mat if they don't.
Thanks for the tips, mitten hooks, who knew!

Re: Attaching a quilt to a mat, any tricks?

Thanks for the tips, if I'm reading it right, the straps would pass under the mat attaching to either edge of the quilt. This is the trussing up effect I'm trying to avoid. The ironing board clips could work if attached to the mat but I'd be worried about puncturing the mat with the teeth of the cli...

Attaching a quilt to a mat, any tricks?

The mat thread reminded me that I've been trying to find a solution to this problem. I move about a bit whilst asleep so get cold spots when using a quilt. I thought about carefully attaching press studs to my Exped mat but cannot find ones compatible with my Alpkit quilt and they cannot help me. I'...

Sorry to hear about your Dad Dave, as posted elsewhere, I lost my Mum last week after 10 years of Alzeimers . Funeral's a week today so back for that. Unfortunately it's not only good news that comes in 3's, a good friend and neighbour died from cancer at my age on Friday and a long standing friend ...

Just remember not to pitch in top of a sprinkler that's timed to come on at 6am. My plan is to carry a rig3.5 tarp bora bivvy exped downmat and alpkit quilt. If the weather gets biblical, there are options for solid shelter every night at nil or minimal cost. We are up at c:1,000 m for 3-4 nights so...

Having a real sh1t time atm. Friday we learnt that a German friend that lives in our valley succumbed to a 12 month fight against cancer and last night a real bombshell, a good friend from Holmfirth lost her 23 year old son and ex-husband in a car crash. Things, as they say, can only get better.

I saw a few people retrieving boxes from the Cafe du Cicliste that they'd left there last year, I didn't have an issue as I'd left our camper van and MrsPB at a nearby campsite and taken the train to Turin. We offered a box stash service there which Zero Dark Bivvy used but I'm not riding this year ...

Instead of doing Bivvy a month, this year I'm aiming to do Caro a month. Mont Caro is local to where we live and can be nicely fitted into a 100-120km round trip, details here https://www.cyclefiesta.com/multimedia/climbs/catalonia/mont-caro.htm My Mum died today so I needed some thinking time, she ...

Plenty of time for thinking, she was a lovely lady taken 10+ years ago with Alzeimers. F**k Alzeimers it's a horrible dis...

Not sure about Strava but it's definitely possible with wikiloc, in fact it's their main use. Depends where you're planning to ride as the UK coverage is patchy but in France, Spain etc it's a fantastic resource.

Re: Does anyone say hello?

Here in rural Cataluna seems quite different to Scotroutes experience, it doesn't matter if your on a road or mountainbike you always get a wave or shout of venga. There's a road climb near me that goes from sea level to 1,500m in 20 odd km, a few months ago I was grinding my way up when a young guy...
