Re: Camp to ride or ride to camp?

i would consider myself a 'rider' (though not much of one as you've seen). this whole 'bikepacking' malarky has only ever been about allowing me to stay out riding longer. having said that i've always been interested in camping but i'm very much at the beginning of the learning curve when it comes t...

BB200 route

Evening folks, Any chance someone could post/email me the .gpx file (or all three of 'em as I understand it) for the BB200 so that I can look it over and plan things for October well in advance (read: begin getting the fear). Many thanks in advance (assuming someone steps up - otherwise thanks for n...

Re: What GPS?

I too was supremely ignorant of all things GPS related until recently and, after significant research and reading of reviews, advice and general crap, I went for Garmin 'eTrex Legend HcX'. I got mine for £60 off eBay and it was in almost new condition. It's (relatively) simple, takes AA batteries, h...

cool, let me know how it goes.....

with stuff like some dry clothes and/or a sleeping bag in the mounted dry bag it's not like it's going to be massively heavy and so i imagine it'll work fine.

Re: MYOG Easy bar bag/headtube anti rub device for £7.99

ingenious!

have you used it in anger yet....?

i've been looking for a cheap alternative to a wildcat mountain lion (as i've spent WAAAY too much on all things bikey of late - sorry Ian!) to use on my 29er and this looks perfect.

let me know how it performs.

Re: More MYOG stove rubbish ... sorry.

great, thanks. will give it a go and see if i've understood everything. at least the principle makes sense now (which is a start). a couple more quick questions: - how many (and what-ish diameter) holes should i do (assuming regular coke sizing)? - the 2:1/3:1 inner/outer hole ratio - am i right in ...

anthony,

that looks brilliant (just what i've been looking for in a stove).

but.....i can't figure out how it's put together and works from the photographs.

any chance of an explanation/link to an explanation/drawing/more photos/blueprints???

cheers, gairy.

Re: More MYOG stove rubbish ... sorry.

a quick question..... from the photo it looks pretty much like the one i made but with the holes on the inside as opposed to the outside (thus the narrower spread of the flames). but....this can't simply be the case because: 1. there's a funny little allen nut looking thingy in the middle. 2. the po...

also just so you know - I hate these tents!

it's not for us it's for the wwoofers (organic farm volunteers - not some weird sexual thing) we'll have staying with us over the summer now that our daughter has her own room (our spare room).

looking for a (no so) light weight tent

afternoon folks, after a week offline (bloody weather!) i'm back online and have an off-topic(ish) question for you all..... i'm looking to get a huge 4-6 man tent (not for bikepacking duties) and wondered if anyone on here knows of somewhere to find one which won't fall apart straight away but whic...

Re: Yet another back door tax - a rant!

it's better here (France)!

but.....not because they have fewer taxes (far from it!) but because we play ignorant and just ignore everything and then if/when we get busted we just say we didn't know we were supposed to pay 'x' for reason 'y' - works every time.

Re: BB5 or BB7

BB5s only have an inboard pad adjuster, BB7s have both inboard and outboard, what this means in practice is that on the BB5 you have to adjust the pads using the inboard caliper adjuster and the barrel adjuster on the lever, with the BB7 you can leave the barrel adjuster alone - makes it a bit simp...

Re: BB5 or BB7

The main difference is the pad adjuster on the inside. I have BB7s and you need this adjustment as unlike hydrolics the piston (which in the case of BB5 an 7s is cam) does not adjust with pad wear. i was given a pair of BB5's and they seem to have the same (red) pad adjuster as the BB7's??? have i ...
