Re: Club Bags
I'd echo the bar roll and rucksack suggestions, but if you want something low faff blackburn's outpost bar roll, while a bit weighty and a bit expensive (we got ours cheap from wiggle) is a very easy way of attaching a fair bit of kit to the bars. Less faffing with straps for someone new to get frus...

Re: The post man's been ...
Bit of a haul today! Second hand highball frame for singlespeed duties this winter, singlespeed dropouts for same, some of those boost sids that someone put up a psa for and a wtb kom rim because they're cheap at the moment! Tomorrow is bike build day, first run planned for monday's night ride. Quit...

Some nice wheels manufacturing drifts. Got tired of bodging some bearings in with sockets/old bearings. Happily, they fit my old cheap bearing press too

Re: South coast winter Bivi 10/ 11 December
This sounds tempting. I'm not sure what's going on in December at the moment so may have to see a little closer to the time, but I am interested.
Haven't camped, let alone bivi'd, in winter in years!

Re: Downs 300 ITT
No hijack intended but I'd be interested in the GPXs of that Mat, if you were ok with sharing them. I could send you some stuff I'd mapped out in return, between the Chilterns and the NF and the Purbecks using byways over Wiltshire and S of the Ridgeway. Was hoping to have a few days worth of UK ri...

Re: Downs 300 ITT
Sounds interesring- my only quibble with that would be that the surrey hills may be sandy but the north downs certainly aren't! If you'd like some more miles in the north downs I can help with trails as far east as sevenoaks, or if you want to come up through Guildford to the north downs before goin...

Re: Downs 300 ITT
I'll be interested to the route you've come up with. I'd mooted a couple that started out in my head as super one day loops and got bigger, but never quite got the routes to stick. One looping one way or another from the north downs, round through the surrey hills, hindhead, south downs and along th...

Re: Cotic X frame and forks
Ah, those forks are the same as mine- fine for forking and braking, awkward for dynamos.
Cheers though!

Re: Cotic X frame and forks
If the fork has the brake in the normal position(i.e. behind left leg) and is cheap I might be interested in that. Can't fit a dynamo to my current one with the 'other side' brake.

I managed that effect on a snakeskin thunder burt in not long at all this year, pretty sure it's a thin sidewall + lower pressure + decent miles thing rather than a plus tyre thing.

Enjoyed that. It actually managed to make me wistful about how little non-commute road riding I've done the last few years! That part the country really is lovely this time of year

I had to wrestle a gate open on today's ride - I was dangerously close to a jason bourne style flashback to things I've tried to forget!

Re: BB200 Route.
I think I'm getting old I've never been good at late nights! I haven't been nobbled as much as I'd expect- I managed a night ride monday (if you ever want your otherwise quite heavy full suss to feel sprightly, ride it straight after 19 hours on a loaded bike) but going to the pub after that and tr...

Re: BB200 Route.
Well, I think I've given it enough time to comment without getting emotional! I enjoyed the route for most of it. I was finding it far too enjoyable, and was getting increasingly fearful of the end. The first two ups and downs after Dylife were OK, good, lets do some trudging, but thanks to a bit of...

Re: BB200 navigation
I think the only other thing I've doubled up on is rear lights to avoid being run over. I'd have the phone and gps anyway, paper weighs little, the watch is the backup really. If you're doubling up (or even tripling) on this, what other stuff are you bringing "just in case"?

Re: BB200 navigation
1. Garmin 510 breadcrumb
2. Phone with os mapping (free trial for the occasion!)
3. Suunto watch with breadcrumb
4. Need to print some paper maps
This is probably excessive redundancy but if i lose the ability to navigate i will be very unhappy!
