Re: velp orange caseys bars?

Also have a set. Better than Jones bars in my opinion because the forward extensions are useable as a pseudo drop bar hood position, although the forward position is very stretched if you set the flat bar position where you would normally have them, or vice versa. Like Stu I have the alloy 'lightwei...

Resurrecting a Sawyer Mini water filter

Had one of these for about 4 years, and need to use it again on a trip in a couple of weeks. The rub is it's been at least 2 years since it was last used. It's been stored in my house, so always above freezing. Will it be as good as ever after a flush through, or will it have deteriorated with time ...

Re: Driver psychology, 1 answer to road space? (MYOG content

Sort of similar: I've found whilst commuting in the dark in winter that if I point a bright rear light at the floor to the right of the bike, creating a pool of red light a few feet roadside of me, cars go round the light giving me considerably more space. I think there's perhaps something subconsci...

Do not take cooking kit or enough sleeping kit to be comfortable; when you're cold, tired and miserable at 2am make sure stopping is no more pleasant than continuing. It's not the WRT

Hoping for the off road equivalent of the TINAT 400 last week, as in relentless but ridable. :-bd

Think I might book Monday off work and plan for a bit of kip before the drive back to Dorset.

Re: This Is Not A Tour - new Audax events in memory of Mike

400 fast completed, later than hoped (comfortably my latest 400k audax finish) but I paced it well and didn't blow up on the never ending climbing. The bacon roll at 11pm at Lake Vnwry shop was immense (eaten whilst walking around to stop the clouds of midges landing), and I particularly enjoyed the...

Re: This Is Not A Tour - new Audax events in memory of Mike

I'm in the 400Km and am having serious thoughts about riding it on my rigid 29er simply because I like riding it so much. Anyone else feeling silly or will it be just me at the back. Fast or slow 400? If it's the fast one, there's just too much road to make finishing in time with that choice of bik...

Re: This Is Not A Tour - new Audax events in memory of Mike

Basing my fast 400 ride around the takeaway(s) in Dolgellau and 24 hour McDonalds in Newtown. Will have just the bivvy bag with me in case I need a couple of hours sleep before dawn but TBH being more rouleur than climber I'm expecting to need most of the time limit...most climbing I've done in 400k...

Second vote for an Exposure TraceR

Mine's a couple of years old, does near 24hrs on flashing low mode (which is still bright), 6hrs on anti-social mode, bracket is good and secure and the unit seems well waterproofed (although a mate did manage to destroy his by dropping it in a cup of tea  ).

Commute on Thursday felt like summer. :-bd

Melting on a rammed train at Bristol yesterday afternoon, stationary for 30 minutes because of signalling problems, also felt like summer albeit the not so good part. :|

Re: Ooohhh nice weather coming....

Heatwave resolutely refusing to begin in the Costa del Dorset; 10 degs and a cold stiff southerly this morning prompting me off the road and into the woods on the commute for some respite. Knee warmers firmly still in place. Hoping for some sun tomorrow as our lunch rides to the beach for ice cream ...
