[quote the real key is reducing demand, t. [/quote]
In the future cars and heating are going to be electric so that reduction is going to happen. Green renewable energy is the only solution and it's going to be built where it's generally windy.

Re: Proposed Wind Farm near Glaslyn
Yes it will be awful and yes some flowers and animals will become extinct but if the alternative is for my children and grand children to become extinct then I'm afraid the plants and animals will have to go. Its not quite that binary but at some point humans have to learn to live in partnership wi...

Got two of theirs and like them both and think the ethics are genuine and better those that try than Amazon or Planet X who don't even try / care.
I suspect this is just to reach a bigger audience and clear some atixknrather than anything to worry about ( hope so as not many ethical brands about)

Re: Narrow-wide chainrings
Some of the newer mechs ( 12 speed xtr) the non clutch mode is very floppy and really exists for wheel removal. ( tend to have sram* so no on off option)

Mid Wales was never worth savingdo sometimes wonder how long it'll be until there's nothing left worth saving.
Realistically we all need to reduce usage( plane flights, car drives, new shiny bike bits etc) and hardly anyone is prepared to do it at the level required to save things.

Got out last night. Sneaked out late ish ( after 10j to the only hide I know near here.. Was up early to avoid the dog walkers and won't repeat as the birds were noisy ( it's barely a lake.) not all proposed locations are ideal true but they have to go somewhere and every area will have objectors. They tried to frack locally to me* I get both sides of the argument but reneqbles are a bit more essential than more fossil fuels ( but I was an objector) * they did till they had earthquakes...

there's generally absolutely no benefit to the local community. And this is the greatest issue with capitalism, selfishness and me first( Thatcher really changed peoples mindset from collective to self) . People think how do I benefit not does the country / planet/ society benefit. We base our deci...

massive wind turbine farms are about making money for shareholders and sending electric to big cities Welcome to capitalism but it is also about producing less CO2 than the alternatives. Its more energy efficient to not use gas for electricity and to use renewable despite some local objections to p...

exceptionally peaceful dark and wild area. Well it won't stop it being peaceful or dark or wild and if it's windy it won't be that peaceful with or without them. They have to go somewhere and the M25 is not that windy. If only CO2 and pollution ( or micron plastics etc) were as visible as some turb...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2024
Indeed the two most common questions are surely
1. Are you mad?
2. Why?
Weds night for me in my always do it last minute ( but next month's is Saturday so 2 in a week for me and finally an early, in the month, one)

Hammer use a rubber one or wood to protect the soft alloy
IME they often take a fair amount of whacking to get out ( and take the bearing with them)

Re: Anyone own one of these stove/pot setups!?
What they say it's basic and cheap, sooty and smelly.
Its probably lighter than gas Personally if faff is not an issue I would use a meths stove before one of those. That said its fool proof to use but a packable wood burner would do the same job
