Re: Bivvy a month 2023.

Returned to an old haunt near Carlops with the bike relatively light by way of prep for Ride to the Sun next weekend. https://i.postimg.cc/m2FQ4Zc9/PXL-20230618-053221963.jpg Felt pleasingly quick. Snack bag was full of tools but tool bottle bereft of snacks because I didn't like the look of the ned...

Re: What you done t' your bike today

It wasn't the seatpost. In fact a hard twist of the saddle moved the entire seat tube a couple of mm, so clearly the araldite hadn't done the trick. Further brute force proved it. https://i.postimg.cc/R0ZkFXg9/20230603-112545.jpg Never mind, got the whole thing out (being glad I'd gone for the thick...

Re: What you done t' your bike today

Fitted some nice wheels courtesy of Escape Goat of this parish, and some slicks for the run to work. https://i.postimg.cc/XvTRMKpY/20230602-091949.jpg Unfortunately there is some creaking after last month's surgery which I'm hoping is just the seatpost wanting a bit of carbon paste, because if it's ...

Re: Bivvy a month 2023.

Both finger and bike now pretty much healed completely, it's good to be back into things properly. Took off around 9 yesterday evening with stove and dangly mug this time just because. https://i.postimg.cc/gkVvKs5N/20230527-212249.jpg Need to sort my navigation because ended up switching between thr...

Tools used: all of them.

Needs glued and sealed, then just waiting on a seatpost shim. Pondering adding bottle mounts.

Re: Bivvy a month 2023.

Couple of reasons for not wanting to be very far from home so, having cleared up the litter earlier in the day, put what all was needed in the pannier of the work bike and pitched up in the sluice pond of the local mill (disused). https://i.postimg.cc/DyFqn0S6/20230430-054953.jpg It rained from abou...

Re: Fitting a valve to a drybag

Success, after a fashion. Emailed adventureexpert.com and got a speedy reply from Kajo in Slovenia confirming no UK sales but suggesting Etsy (no joy) and ebay (neither), so decided to take a punt on one of these, which turned out to be massive https://i.postimg.cc/3rt4VbNz/Screenshot-20230427-08003...

Re: Fitting a valve to a drybag

Yeah it might just be a matter of technique. Problem of the down compressing and trapping air can probably be sorted by going slower, but a valve would make it better. This looks ideal, but they don't ship to the UK.

Re: Fitting a valve to a drybag

It's probably not as much of a problem as I'm making out, just a frustration really. The drybag is a podsacs one from Planet-X and impressively tough. The winter bag is a Rab 700 Ascent and very warm, and it does fit, just. https://i.postimg.cc/g0RVst20/20230318-214729.jpg The trick is getting the d...

Fitting a valve to a drybag

Sorry if this has been done before, but stuffing a sleeping bag into a handlebar drybag, how do you not trap air? I'm thinking of fitting a one way valve, perhaps similar to that on my Vango aotrom mat (recommended btw), to let air out but keep water out.

Easily done? Any suggestions?

I reckon if you're away from water with views it counts, and Google maps says it's a Mountain Peak so there's that. Looks like a nice part of the country.

Re: Bivvy a month 2023.

BAM3 was about 200m from February's, but on the other side of the wall of the Duke of Buccleuch's Dalkeith estate and in woodland as opposed to the middle of a field. Woodland by a burn, with an off camber pitch which led to worries of sliding off into said burn (the Dead Burn), the coefficient of f...
