Re: Magnetic dynamo connectors
Interesting, having previously killed a few garmins with water, I sealed the USB lead into my edge1000 with Sugru and fed it to a waterproof plug and socket. But a mag connector would take the hassle out of quick disconnect for cafe stops, and remove the family bit of loose wiring of the bike. Think...

There's a UK scene, a local shop builds and sells them at Rockingham Speedway, they have just been to a cruiser weekend rally organisers by these suppliers in Bournemouth. http://www.forgecustomcycles.com/uk-supplier-of-ready-to-ride-beach-cruiser-and-low-rider-custom-ruff-cycle-bikes.html Some grea...

What have you done Ian.
There are some things you wish you had never seen
Been close with a few rides at 8500m. As we all love a good planning session over a map, this could creep into next years plans.

Definitely peaked my interest, shame there's no more details than a route teaser, even if only they are only general initially; Fixed route or check points I wonder, looks like its not a race as as such?
Maybe let then iron out problems on version 1 and go for it if it repeats in 2018

Re: More dynamo woe.
Interested, how many of these SP dynamo hubs are the QR version and how many the though axle, which appear terrible.
Had huge mileage, over 15K miles, out of my QR SP hub but expect it to go pop any minute, now have a spare exclusively for epic trips.

Re: Trackleaders page, how do you set one up?
I did an Audax ride in the highlands and Islands this year and a group tracking page was set up on spotwalla as linked by Scotroutes. Riders used trackers and mobile phone aps on it and it worked well. The android app "bubbler" worked well using relatively little battery life too as it onl...

It has been entertaining watching. Lael and Sarah and doing amazingly, and on staggeringly low sleep levels. Seems some concern over Lee Fancourt at the moment, has he gone missing or just dark. I'm finding myself studying the photos and the route more and more, getting sucked in for an attempt in 2...

Similar lobster gloves on on-one for £15 as said above can't wear them above freezing without sweating to much. Very warm

I had an old original Exposure big daddy light, the battery had failed. Ripped out the guts and used asimple rectifier/cap trippler circuit to raise the voltage over 12v (Exposure LEDs in use on that one requirement) Added a few of the biggest 16v capacitors I could fit in the can as a standstill li...

Re: Two part plastic dynamo connectors.
I've always soldered the strands then placed into plug and bent round, solder is relatively soft and haven't had any problems with two SP hubs in use, even when hub rotated in forks.
You could solder on short stub wires to a waterproof 2 pin connector, loads on eBay prewired.

Re: 80/20 Road/EasyTrail Tyres
Halo twin rails every time. Surprisingly good off road and I can keep up with the road boys on a pretty rapid club thrash too. Rolling races down hills they really do go well. The only problem I've had with them is that they are a loose fit on the rim and you have seat them carefully at higher press...

Fat bike fun, snow, Alps, help required
Hope its ok to post on here, but i think a few people might ultimately want to try this. Poor excuse i should MTFU. Broken hip socket in early January has wrecked all my plans of fun. Just recently getting back in the real world with a bit of steady biking, can barely walk. Think off road is out for some time yet ;-)

Re: Garmin / Strava and long rides (>24 hours)
Another recommendation to save every 12 hrs. Easy to reset the track log but leave the ride stats active for full distance.
Base camp also works to stitch files together.
