Re: Sleeping mat upgrade

I tried a airo 120, lasted one night. cold, thin and i don't sleep well with cold feet.

I then bought a neoair xtherm. best thing ever, wasn't cheap but really warm, really comfortable and is smaller and lighter than the airo

I'll sell you a airo 120 cheap if you like?

Re: best adventure mattress?

I tried an alpkit airo 120 and decided thin 2/3 length mats aren't for me. I got cold and uncomfortable.

Bought a neoair Xtherm instead. Smaller, lighter, much warmer, much more expensive even on sale.

With on of the mounts from the gorilla cage on top it should be fine, or a couple of washers should space it out.

Re: Forkin cages!

I take it back. Found the long bolt in the packaging for the monki clip. Seems to clip onto a RS revelation pretty securely.

I think a zefal gizmo at the bottom to stabilise the cage and it might just work.

Re: Forkin cages!

I've just ordered a set of gorilla cages with a monkii clip for one leg and some zefal gizmo's for the other to see which is best. turned up. cages look good but a schoolboy oversight on the monkii clip means it was never going to work. designed for 38mm circumference tube is never going to fit a t...

I hadn't, the gizmo clamps he reviews have been modified though to be adjustable though.

but anyway, I might just get some of these instead:

Zefal Gizmo - anyone used?

They look like they could be the solution to mounting some anything/gorilla cages to my forks.

Re: Dartmoor - way of the dead.

Did the EWE section over Dartmoor recently; much better now it's dryer, but still some pointless HAB on the NE of the moor! Is that a Spearfish with Revelate Frame bag? What do you think of it? EWE? HAB? its a transition bandit with a custom bag made by a friend of a friend. the guy is just startin...

Dartmoor - way of the dead.

After reading about this in STW issue 98 and seeing as this is on my doorstep I decided to go and have an explore as a test of some new bikepacking gear. Epic views, remote and barren. Navigation was fairly straightforward on a nice sunny day but there are sections where the right route is vague at ...

I used to replace the bearings in them but when you can pick them up so cheap there seems little point.
