Love it Josh!!

I think it's that "bonkers" element that totally does it for me, nearly every time, as most of mine are just very local and mid week.

Brilliant to have caught one of those really cold nights :-bd

It was one of you on here (who are you?) who brought Kae Tempest to my attention a couple of years ago.

"Being Kae Tempest" is on BBC iPlayer now, have just started watching it.

Well done V. With regard to company, in my experience you and whoever you're riding with will both experience highs and lows but often at different times, so you can usually help pull each other through the lows. Thanks Stu, that's kind of how I work... and once feeling like I've buddied up, I woul...

Re: Winter Hammocking

What's the thoughts on the DD hammock with the pocket for a sleeping mat? Looks like less faff and will keep the hammock spread out a bit... That's the one and only way I've ever done winter hammocking....and I found it fine. In fact, reading all this makes me fancy a night out in a hammock very so...

Re: Audax Tips?

So, I did the Moonrakers and Sunseekers 300km audax at the weekend, and here's just a few bits of my experience, a few photos and my own reflections and things learned/ to be learned. There's obviously loads of stuff online about it, but basically, this one is a night ride, starting in 4 waves from ...

You passed less than a mile from my house so I was keeping an eye out for you all. Ahh, I see! So was it you who was standing outside a pub along the route yelling "W@ankers!!" at us as we passed? Or was that just a random Friday night reveller? Must be quite an impressive light if...

Nice clear night for it good luck. I'll keep an eye out for you in the morning. Thank you - did you mean keeping an eye out here on the forum, or were you actually there there? So, I've done it, it was brilliant, and yes it was just perfect weather, clear night with a full moon, followed by wall to...

Wasn't sure whether to say this here, on the audax thread, or the yay it's cheery Friday one... My feelings right this moment are probably most accurately reflected here... Currently en route to the Moonrakers and Sunseekers audax, starting at 22.40 and riding through the night... Exciting of course...

We used to occasionally bivi under the viaduct in Ingleton to go climbing. Wasn't comfortable - orange plastic bivi bag, not flat, not very sheltered and too young for a decent 'beer blanket' to add a layer of comfort.

Re: Bivvy a month 2023.

Canal bridge doss has been done before by myself. I thought as much, sure it must have been done before... I did wonder about just how level it would be, and how wide, i.e. what would be the chances of rolling into the water in my sleep... :o ? This spot was generously wide and very flat, and I onl...

Megaliths of Wales, by Chris Barber. Not really on purpose, but it appeared on the dining table recently, as Mr Z has recently rediscovered his interest in archaeology. Re: Todays ride

I had a real treat this weekend, popped down to Pembrokeshire on Friday lunchtime, to catch up with the lady who deserves a mention here, as it was with her that I did my first ever bivvy with - we were riding route 8 together, had prebooked campsites every night, but confessed to each other that we...
