Re: A boner in The Times

Thanks folk. I was going to print my own obituary to get in the paper but had a Instagram message asking if I'd prefer to have an article about the Iditarod instead. Apologies for the fake news, I am today 40 not 39 as stated. I'll get them to print a correction for all those jealous old people.

Re: WTD: Salomon TOUNDRA PRO Winter Boots - UK SIZE 11

Thanks for the heads up Shaf but they won't be warm enough. Cheers for keeping me in the loop. I've ordered the Keen Revel IV High Polar Hiking Boots. Fingers crossed I've got the fitment correct.

Probably either Wednesday or Thursday. Won't be riding this week. Been absolutely floored. I'll send you a message tomorrow if that's okay.

Thanks Dave. I'll bob the lights over later in the week once I'm feeling a bit better.

Anyone going bearbones from peaks or Manchester area?

Looks like illness has caught up with me so not sure I'll be able to go. Got a couple of lights that I promised could be used so looking for someone nearby to deliver them. Thanks

Can you still get the outdry reign? Only seems like the extreme is available as it's a bit pricey.

Rockbus if you fancy a bikepacking trip (1 night/multiple nights) around the peak district just drop me a private message. Always happy to introduce folks to sleeping outdoors with the wild life.

Corrour Station House (technically a restaurant) but serves beer is accessible by train, bike or foot only. Does that count?

Re: My BB200 Black Badge (training) Thread.

To complete under 24 hours I think the following is really important:

Do not stop to sleep.

Do not take a stove and do any cooking/heating of water.

Do not overthink.

Keep moving forward however you can - walking is fine.

Training for the above is more about being efficient than physically fit.

I use to hold the record but alas that has long gone now some quick folk have turned up and put a time up.

I could be up for a group start but will check my calendar.

Gravelmap.com

Seen this mentioned in a facebook group. Looks like it's pretty comprehensive (around the peaks at least). Don't be fooled by the website name, I think it highlights bridleways. So just be cautious with your gravel bike planning, but looks great.

Thought I'd better let you know that you go to Bakewell for Bakewell pudding, not Bakewell tarts. Hope that's help. :-bd

PS I prefer a tart to a pudding.

Oh okay. Didn't realise she was self-supported. 2 completions in one season after none. Some tough cookies out there. Chapeau.

Re: Calder Divide Trail

Hi Adrian,

I've changed the thread title to reflect the correct name. Apologies for that. Great to see a new route popping up. I can't make the ride weekend but I'm keen to try it out. Will make a donation before I head out to try it.

Just seen this which looks interesting. 150 mile, 80% off road. £45, fundraising for Overgate Hospice.

Derbyshire County Council Cave Dale Saga Petition

Could I ask you to look at this petition and sign if you agree.

DCC have already made drastic and negative impact on the bridleways around the peaks and need to be more open and held accountable before we lose more classic routes.
