Re: Sandstone Way
I'm in Hexham (and know the guy who created the SW). Went exploring up the bottom 35km or so the other night. Not an awful lot of fun in the wet and gloop, but when its a bit drier, as it is now, it'll be fine. In fact, I might try it again... My plan is to get the train to Berwick one morning and r...

Re: Dynamo Hub setup issues - HELP!
Thanks numplunz.
I'll check resistance tonight.
And AARRGGHH about the light output. I assumed all dynamo rear lights were 6, apart from a few 12v ones. Need to to do some digging into 4v-6v conversion

Dynamo Hub setup issues - HELP!
I've got 2 Shutter Precision PD8 hubs. One on the road bike and a PD-8X on one of the mtbs. I use an Exposure Revo front light which I switch between bikes. Issue 1: On the road bike, I recently installed a Busch and Muller Toplight View rear light on my pannier rack. Previously used an Exposure Red...

Or 650b+ just because I can in those forks...
Would that make it a 67.5+er?

Re: Charge Knife?
With upside-down forks too. Which I've thought about converting to 29" so the bike is a 69er for extra niche points.
Its chuffing good fun to ride.

Re: Charge Knife?
I've got 2 Knives. One on the road bike, and one on my SS MTB. Road bike one is bloody lovely, rode the LEL in perfect comfort. One on the MTB feels hard, but not an issue since its SS so I'm out the saddle a lot, and its full suspension, so more comforting. I also have a spoon on my other MTB, and ...

How about a bike to ride to the mountains, ride around and up the mountains and then down them. All while carrying luggage.
Or is that not allowed?

FS: Titanmium Voodoo D-Jab frame
It pains me to do this: I love my D-Jab, its been my "one bike to rule them all" for a few years now. Ran it with 120mm and 150mm forks, but also as a rigid 69er. Sadly selling the frame as I’m diverging my tastes into a bouncy big mountain machine, and a rigid 29er mile-muncher. Anyone wa...

Re: Gaiters
I use Berghaus Glacier ankle gaiters over my MT90 boots, and under my Altura waterproof trousers when the going is really filthy. Keeps airborne water (rain/snow, puddle-splash) from getting the tops of my boots. Never really tested wading through deeper water to see how effective they are, mainly b...

FS: Hope Pro2 rear hub
Pro2 hub: QR axle, 32h, in gunmetal. Brand new warranty replacement shell. Bought by mistake cos the pic I saw made it look black. Doh! £75 posted, or less collected from Newcastle/Hexham/Tyne Valley https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7577/15808868808_18825b9bc4_z.jpg 20141211_084902 by ir_bandito , on ...

FS: Carbon Forks
Hylix carbon 29er forks. 450mm axle-to-crown, steerer is 200mm-ish. Complete with Hope head-doctor. Bought to start a 29er project, but I got more forks with the frame I subsequently bought, so don't need these. £75 (what I paid for them) including postage but excluding paypal fees, less collected f...

Dropped you an email. Quite fancy it to persuade me that bikepacking IS fun, despite Stu's best intentions on the BB200. Damn sight closer to home too so logistics are easier.

Re: How many miles have you ridden in a day?
On road, Day 3 of the LEL last year, I left Brampton at 4am and got to Barnard Castle around midnight, via Edinburgh. Approx 387km (240 miles), this after 545 km, with another 500 to go.
Off road its probably the BB200 this year, although I only managed about 130km in the first 24 hours.

Re: How did you get into riding?
My Dad taught me when I was 3 or 4 on a solid-tyred, rod-braked thing that my Grandad had found in a skip and restored. I've never stopped. Incidentally, my Dad can't actually ride (and no-one else in my family ever really did), and despite him being a grumpy old bugger with whom I can't have a conv...

FS/WTD/SWAP: Hope Pro2 Rear Hub
Just got hold of a Pro2 rear hub with QR axle. Its got a brand new (warranty replacement) body, but its the wrong colour! Despite the dark photos I saw, it turned out to be gunmetal. So, anyone want to swap it for a black one? As I say, body is brand new, bearings seem silky smooth, freehub is glori...

WTD: 29er frame(set)
I'm after a 29er frame, 19-20" ish sized. Ideally non-suspension corrected as I've got some 450mm forks on their way. The slacker angled the better Its for a Rohloff, so EBB or sliding dropouts would be good, vert dropouts fine and I'll use a chain tensioner. No track-ends though. Something lik...
