Re: Tour Divide 2016
According to Scott Morris who runs Trackleaders - http://www.bikepacking.net/forum/ultra-racing/tour-divide-2016-race-discussion-thread/msg83551/#msg83551 It could well be that Guy Martin is running silent. Or it could be a red herring. Without someone who knows what Guy looks like and (perhaps more...

I've got one of the "What would Jenn Do?" stickers on the top tube (another CTBM sticker) so can sit next to that.psling wrote:That would sit nicely alongside my "Toughen up Princess" Charlie the BM sticker

Re: Foam mats
What I've used in the Alps and also Mountain Marathon type fell races is three sections of Karrimat or similar cut to a size that they fit inside the sleeve in the back of a rucksack. A sack like the OMM sack already comes with one so it's a case of cutting two more. Tape the three bits together so ...

Re: Tour Divide 2016
Greg tweeted about an hour ago to say he spotted he's in 18th. And wonders how that happened. I'm pretty sure anyone how has seen him operate a bicycle will have an idea how and why that's happen! Very similar to what I thought when I saw that tweet. There's a review/update on bikepackers magazine ...

At 670 miles in just under five days it's theoretically a 20 day sort of time.Trail-rat wrote:Anyone heard from Greg , He seems to be going consistantly that much is sure.
From what i read he hasn't got great expectations of placing , he just wants a solid finish and the journey :)

Tried emailing wildcat (on Monday) via the contact form on the site but no response yet. Will the tapered drybags be for sale on the site soon? There were a couple of messages on the front page of their site concerning moving to a new server/host. It might be one of those things that hasn't transfe...

In my back garden. Was locked out, as i had left my keys inside. Parents were out and due to return the next morning( pre mobile phone era). Broke into the garage. Rolled my sisters Duke of ed mat and sleeping bag out. Went to sleep. Got into loads of trouble the next day, as the dogs had not been ...

Not done a 24hr bike event but have done the Bob Graham Round which is similar in terms of sleep deprivation (IanFitz has also done this). Generally you can get away with missing a night's sleep, sure you aren't going to be the brightest pebble on the beach afterwards but that's not important as you...

Does it need to do input and output at the same time or are you fine with charging your devices overnight? It's worth getting one that has some environmental protection - consumer electronics and moisture aren't happy bedfellows. I fubarred one of these https://www.amazon.co.uk/Anker-PowerCore-mini-...

I think it was Mike Cudahay (sp?) when running the Pennine Way in a record time said that he just ran until he felt tired, lay down for a sleep wherever he was, and just started running again when he woke up. No planned stops that might get in the way of his rhythm.

I remember that slow tussocky section - it was bad enough in the daylight It was around that point that Ianpv, Mountainbaker and I began riding together though we got that long rocky descent from Dunkery Beacon in the dark which was interesting.
Unfinished business for me ...

Resetting SPOT trackers
I've seen it mentioned that SPOT trackers should (must?) be reset every day. The manual says: " Track Progress messages are sent every 10 minutes for 24 hours or until cancelled. You can re-engage Track Progress at any time to restart the cycle. " but doesn't say how this is achieved. Is i...
