Re: What rigid forks are people using these days?

I put a Fargo fork on my El Mariachi

Although I've only bikepacked with it once so far (as it's singlespeed currently so only use it for local stuff), didn't actually use the cage mounts on the fork legs anyway

But I needed a rigid 29er fork so it felt like a good move

Re: Bearstock - Rhayader Grand Depart Friday 1st July

I'm be surprised if Nant Syddion wasn't full of BBers too! I haven't tried Syddion, hence me aiming for there Uhh... didn't you stay at Syddion with me on a ride we did last year, or am I thinking of someone else? :???: Nope, you're completely correct! I meant Nant Rhys, haven't been there. In fact...

Re: Bearstock - Rhayader Grand Depart Friday 1st July

So basically get there early and lay your kit out like you're a holidayer-saving-sunloungers! Sounds like it's going to be a squeeze, I'm sure that'll be fine! I'm going to drive up from London in the morning, and ride up from Llanbrynmair, past BB Towers, to Nant Rhys Will arrive sometime in mid ev...

Re: Solstice plans?

I rode into work today and got completely soaked. Insoles are out of my shoes and the latter are now stuff with kitchen roll to try and dry them out before I ride home. Grim

Look like the weather will be grim on the way home too, grrrr

Re: Ridgeway advice - walking

Thanks for the advice Jameso I'm sorry to say that I bottled it relatively last minute, the weather looked a bit grim and it was very helpful being at home on the Sunday as I had a load of stuff to do I was still committed to doing a long walk with the dog so I took the train down to Folkestone and ...

Re: New cx bike help req

I really like the look of the Shand bikes so would definitely go for that if I was in your shoes and liked those 3 options the best I have a Pinnacle Arkose 2 which, as it's a 1x10 bike, will happily run 40c tyres, though I am running 32s and mudguards on it as its my commuter Lots of lovely shiny t...

Buy more than one and pack them tight together. The larger the mass of them the slower they will defrost

Ridgeway advice - walking

Thinking of a walk and bivvy this weekend with the dog, haven't done the ridgeway before. Will obviously only be doing part of it, looking for some advice from anyone who knows it Was thinking of train to Goring and heading North East, then walk to somewhere like Princes Risborough, Wendover or Trin...

My wife did a 10k in Glasgow yesterday, it was boiling! It was fairly hot everywhere in fairness, but it was apparently lovely, warm and sunny the whole weekend

Would love to see pics when people can get round to sharing

Open fire - no without permission

Lots of options for contained ones though - bushbuddy for example, or fold flat ones too (can't remember the name of the big Ti one I have)

More faff than meths though in many cases

Oil, filter and sump to service my bike Spent ages last night trying to get a bolt out, bloody useless rubber shrouded nut embedded in a mount means I couldn't get the lower fairing off last night though. Swearing at it seems to make no difference Thankfully managed to remove enough and move the res...

Re: Race / Summer Sleeping Bag

Stretchy? Interesting. Yep, it's genuinely astounding as to how different it works compared with a normal sleeping bag. Obviously if you use it inside a bivy bag then it's limited by the size of the bivvy http://www.livefortheoutdoors.com/Gear-Reviews/Search-Results/Sleeping-bags/Mont-Bell-Super-St...

Re: Race / Summer Sleeping Bag

My summer weight sleeping bag isn't really that light, it's still 600g It's a montbell super spiral sleeping bag, but it's the comfiest sleeping bag you'll ever use. You can sit cross legged it in as it stretches, but it normally forms around you when you're not stretching it. Great piece of kit, an...
