Re: 2020 review
Best ride: Set off on the South Downs Way on a Saturday morning in August with two mates, fish chips beers and bivi in Eastbourne that night. Rode the coast roads(ish) to Southampton on Sunday, curry beers and bivi on the beach there and back to Winchester on the Monday morning. Best kit: made a qui...

I can verify the likeness to a pub. Winter Event 2017 (I think...church’s and chapels) I managed to coax my VW Fox up the snow covered road to the Star on the Friday night. Spent the evening chatting with folk from here about bikes, routes and general bollox. Just like on here. A bit strange when pe...

Re: Atlas Mountain Race...
On a general note, my write up on the AMR: https://originaladventure.cc/my-atlas-mountain-race/ I enjoyed reading that, thanks. Would you take the same bike again? I entered, but wasn't successful, i don't think my cycling CV was strong enough, I didn’t realise there were entry criteria, what sort ...

I had an email on Saturday saying they are planning to launch in January and are hosting some zoom seminars to provide more info to those who are interested.

Re: Is a single map enough?
Interesting sustainable travel / lockdown / covid times idea from Al Humphreys. Kind of reminds me of this by David Nash: https://mobile.twitter.com/commongroundlab/status/1001784088393592832?lang=en It struck me that lockdown exploration would be a good opportunity to do something similar, even if...

Re: Time to get revenge on Stuart
It’s starting to look like £10 is remarkably good value, and seeing as Stu is being such a good sport I may well be chucking a bit more in the tin, whether my GR is reached or not.

I’ll play. Great causes to raise for.
If I had known this was going to happen while I was in the ‘BB200 2020 field of turnips’ it would have cheered me right up!
What’s the best way to identify ‘field of turnips’ on an OS map I wonder...

I’ve some Rockshox sektor if the above don’t suit. 15mm maxle, 210mm steerer. Adjustable 130–150 travel.
Few scratches to one stanchion which would be reflected in the price.

My eBay special £18 headset press. “Toopre” tools (?!) in lovely electric blue. Was fully prepared for it to be dreadful but LBS want £30 to do it so I thought it was worth a punt. Delivery took a week but 10 mins after it arrived I had the forks in on my ‘new‘ old bike build. Actually quite impress...

WTD: 700c 142x12 rear wheel
After a rear wheel for a friend who is having issues with warranty after a cracked rim.
700c, Shimano 9/10/11 speed hub, centre lock preferred, 142x12 thru axle, easy on rim width but it’s for a gr@vel bike so around 23? He’s running 37c tyres.
Does any one have anything suitable for sale?
Cheers.

Re: Nighttime riding, fear and loathing.
I get the same thoughts, I think part of the issue is I tend to get more ‘inside’ my own head at night as there is less to look at and these thoughts rattle around in there. Things that help me: -more powerful lights that I have confidence in - thinking back to other times when I’ve ridden in the da...

The man in the first house you come through in Middle FFynonau (A couple of Km’s before the end of Stu’s route) was not best pleased at all that I rode through at 2330. He came out with a torch and was shouting after me. I didn’t stick around as he didn’t look too friendly. The ROW goes straight thr...

I’ve a 10spd XTR shifter, SL-M980 right hand in pretty good nick. £25 plus postage? Can pm photos.
I may also have some forks but I’m waiting to fit another set to see if I will sell these. (Sorry that’s not very helpful for you unless you are still looking in a couple of weeks!)

Canyon Nerve AM 26er frame and shock
Long shot: I have an old (c. 2012?)Canyon Nerve AM frame and shock which has served me well but just not the riding I do at the moment. It’s been well used and has scratches to show but also been helitaped in some areas so at least these are fine! Might make an interesting project for someone... Dig...
